Jeep Mighty FC Concept

Well, time to start a new build. I have a few trucks that I have been running for the past year, and it is time to do something custom. I didn't want the do the same old thing everyone else is doing but couldn't think of what to do, then I found this

So, I bought a Jeep JK body from China


Took it apart


and cut it up :shock:

Started by shortining up the top


and cut the nose off of it. Cut the fender flares off and tacked them to the doors.


and this is what I have left.


Ordered up some yellow .060" 12"x36" styrene sheet, some bracing and glue.

I plan on putting it on a SCX10 Chassis, with either 1.9 Flatirons, or Rock Crusher II X/T tires.

I don't have a lot of experience working with styrene or ABS but I am a quick learner, so wish me luck!

Any tips, tricks, or comments, post them up "thumbsup"

If you can put your hands on the Flat Irons I highly recommend them. I have run them on several trucks and have always been very happy with the grip. I run 4.25 CI foams with soft outer and just stuff them in there. They look great too for people familiar with KM2's

Every time I'm out and see other 1.9s having trouble with certain things I cant for the life of me figure out why they stopped making the Flat Irons.

I have a set already on my SCX10/Bruiser hybrid and love them. They look right, but this rig is going to be heavier, and they already squish down pretty bad on the other rig. How do those CI foams do supporting a heavy rig?

The CI foams with them is a perfect combo in my opinion. I'm running the 4.25's with medium outers right now on a loaded down TF2. At one point for a "safari" style run we had where the trucks carried all the battery they needed + spare parts and tools, I had 12000mAh of 2s + tools + spare gears, shafts etc. and a TF2 isnt light to start with "thumbsup"

I need to go back to soft outers now that I'm back to no tools / spares and one battery at a time, but they have still been performing fine so I haven't bothered.

Here it is with light load on medium outers. You can see the driver front squatting a bit under the pressure but nothing too speak of on the tires that don't have the pressure on them.

I made a handful of line drawings to scale as best I could get them, this is the only one I can find right off the bat. I'll look for some of the others tomorrow:

I printed the line drawings out to scale and started work from there:

From the photo above I got the lower part of the bed built and started on the uprights that support the fold down sides and that's about where I left it. I'm hoping to get some time in cleaning up my shop tomorrow, I'll try to remember to take some more current pics.

wow...amazing project! I wish I had that talent! it takes me 2 weeks to do a bow tie on my Clod body...so dont ask me to build anything!

I saw that one Dready made for you. Awesome job. I bet you couldn't get the smile off of your face when meeting up with them. So that Bantam Jeep Festival is in Butler? I have a lot of family up there. May need to make a visit for that.

Thanks man. I think I've spent about 20 hours already just looking at things trying to figure out how to do what. Scared to make the wrong cut and screw everything up.
