GT3B Hack Question and Answer Thread

Yes I tryed looking in google but didnt finf nothing for the GT3C, just for the GT3B and didnt now that its the same.

Just one more thing, I have a Light controller that has 8 mods could it be possible to use a channel and set eache mod foward our backwords?

Sorry I can`t help you with that one.

sorry for the newb questions you guys. i just bought a gt3b; long story short this is my first aftermarket radio and the reason for purchase is because of? you guessed it; a winch control. currently running no lights so ill just have esc bec and servo and now a winch. does this stock; have a 3 pos swicth?i read around the thread and read you can with the dial trims?

Also will ill be able to run power to the rx from the esc running 2s and 3s? Or do I need an external bec to power the rx. Thanks

Always use an external bec. It helps in the long run as the standard esc bec usually doesn't support the amperage. Plus you won't run into a brownout situation where your motor current causes your esc bec to cut power to your receiver.

Thanks! Now obout this hacking what is it regards to like, removing butons installing aftermarkets, sodering and what not? Im more interested and hacking it for a 4 batt modd or single lipo pack? Totally newb but have some soldering skills and of course; common sense

Yes, you can use it but only with GT3C. GT3B needs at least 2S LiPo "thumbsup"

Well if it works with the GT3C it will be a huge jump, since the normal li-ion is only 800mAh

Heres another and cheaper

Just have one doubt, getting one of this li-ion since it has more mAh could it be charge still in the radio like the normal li-ion that comes in the GT3C our does it need to be tcharge another way?

I assume that you can charge it in GT3C but I don't know nothing about charging current of GT3C, it can be small (my guess is cca 500mA) so charging time of new battery can be veeeery long

The GT3C comes with a USB cable to charge on the PC, so I think that its just like a normal li-ion like the mobiles, and mayby can be charge in normal corrent.

a GT3B with the works done to it will have 6 channels correct?

1 for the steering, 2 for the speed control, 3 aux - Now with the 4th-6th channels, will there be added switches to the controller?

^yes, the hacked GT3B will get you 6ch to play with, even 8ch i believe. no, there won't be any physical changes to the controller in regards to switches unless you do that yourself. the hack kit lets you individually program what all the buttons do, so it's up to you how the buttons function.

I just received my hack kit in the mail but wasn't able to buy any receivers at the same time due to them being out of stock. I looked up and found the list of compatible receivers. Looking for an alternative to HobbyKing, I found some Turnigy 9x receivers on eBay -- will I have any problems getting one of these to work? Turngy RX-9X8Cv2 I thought I read those will be fine, but just looking for confirmation so i can buy 2 of them. Thanks!

Got my GT-3B hacked and configured. Looking forward to some drive time to see how I like it!

Running Rear Steer on the D/R slider & Dig/bias via Dual ESC on Ch3 slider. "thumbsup" Channel 3 button will reset dig/bias to 0.

Well just resolved problem, but camed another .

Now another problem, I instaled the ch6-0.1.0.s19 firmware, when setting the lower voltage on the instalation manual it says

Step 8:
This step is for firmware 0.6.1, possibly others. In 0.6.1, defaults are setup for the GT3B. To
change the defaults, turn the radio off, then back on. Now press and hold enter for about 2 seconds
(LONG-enter). This will open the global setup menu. Scroll until LOW POWER is blinking, press
enter. scroll to 3.00v, press enter, scroll to H, press enter, scroll to E_R. press and hold enter for 1-2
seconds.
This changes the low voltage alarm to 3 volts and reverses the scroll wheel so it acts normal.

but I cant set it to 3.0v it only gets to 7.5v doesn't go down from that , and the it says scroll to H, only appears L,F,r,b has anyone had this problem, my radio is the GT3C but I think that is the same firmware used as the GT3B.

Can someone give a help here please?
