Let's see some MUD TRUCKS

And I like that while you have a mega truck you posted without bothering to actually talk about it or include a pic.

OK you got me. Here's mine. :flipoff: It will be run on 4s 5000mah 65-130c packs. 4000kv pro4, 120a hobbywing ESC, CC 10a bec, bls157, summit trans, ar60s with kyosho shafts, savage shocks, I have some ABS wheels and a carbon fiber chassis drawn in CAD. I still need my narrowed 3906 maxx tires from EverettY, some maxx shafts, two sets of UD gears, and a body.

You probably won't need underdrive gears with that trans. Low gear is 5.08:1 and high is 1.83:1 so it isn't too much taller than the 2.6:1 axial trans ratio. Are those wheely king shocks? I have a set of 8 ancient hot racing savage shocks I've thought about setting up on the truck but the springs are WAY too stiff, some WK with soft "tender" springs over them may be the ticket though.

Have you figured out wheel bearings to run those Kyosho shafts yet? I've been thinking about something like that but I have yet to get passed that stage. Been too busy bashing on the truck.

Does the trans sit down inside the tubework?
Are you asking me? If so, yes.

Savage X shocks. After I get it all together I will give them the dual rate treatment by sanding the inside if the last quarter of the spring with the dremel sanding drum. I was going with the UD gears mainly for their superior tooth engagement. There is lots of room to mess with gearing at the spur and pinion. I want it to do 35+mph. Should be easy since that's only 8mph more than my wraith with a 3400kv 4s and a single speed geared 14/60. The kyosho shafts will have a bushing replacing the inner bearing to get the joint in line with the kingpins. Eventually I want to make ar60 knuckles that accept the kyosho shafts with bearings.

Never thought about thinning the wire diameter like that... Good idea, I probably won't attempt it since I'd likely make one side thinner than the other and have a wonky, lopsided truck due to my own negligence.

You need to make another set of those bushings so I can do some destructive testing for you. That or just go off properly and make the knuckles to start with. I don't need the Kyosho stuff in the mega truck but I do have another rig that'd benefit from them.

What would yall think of front motor and low tcase? Granted be a lot of weight up top but maybe try to sling the motor and trans low in front and cradle it between the frame rails.

My OG scx10 mud rig

These tires were off a New Bright toy monster truck stretched on HPI 2.0'' wheels carved through mud like butter!!

Running gear back in 05-06 when the rig was still an scx10:

XL-5 ESC on 1550 mah 3s 40C
Hitec 5645MG waterproofed
Traxxas 12T Brushed
32p Gearing
MIP shafts
Waterproof RX box...
Marine Grease in the axles...

Mud rigs aren't as popular as they used to be when the scale rigs took off...

this is my mud truck axial locked axles and trand with metal gears 2.2 mud slingers made my own frame 27t axial ae2 esc 2s lipo havent got to take it in the mud yet still finishing it up

Here's a better picture. Did some more work on it. All that's left to do it figure out how I wanna mount the body an order 2 new bodies, radio an receiver, servo. Then it will be time to take it apart an add some details to it

Sweet rig

Thanks! This is stage 2.0 one I was building first had rc4wd blackwell under it but I wanted something I could have power to an not worry about a broken axle.

Have a build thread?
