First Build Tamiya TT-02 (Anime Amazing)

I got the traxxas set for 13 shipped for new take offs from dollarhobbies on ebay- and to get maximum suspension movement on the back end grind the limiter notches off the c-hubs. I have an inch of travel now

it will have an interior soon enough... i fab my interiors out of styrene and action figures. i am waiting for inspiration. i also get my dash details out of hot rod parts catalogs (jegs, summit)instead of decals... there are guages, radios, climate controls, etc..then paint the back of the paper with clear lacquer to glue it and cover the dash with clear mylar

Finally got the electronics in and she's running. Wiring is much cleaner now, just don't have a pic. Left it rough to test before I went hiding and trimming stuff.

Savox 1258TG servo

I'm curious to how the TT-02 has been holding up as a rally car? Been debating on picking one up to try out, but haven't seen many people talking about how it performs and holds up.

It's held up ok and been easy and cheap to fix when little things break. I did replace the motor with a 13.5T Speed Passion Sensored motor to get rid of the weird cogging it suffered from. It's definitely not as good as an XV-01 and can get debris up in the chassis to mess with stuff but it's better than a TT-01 since the bottom of the chassis is smooth without holes.

As a TT02 R2R owner I have since upgraded to a better on road chassis (sakura XI sport) and I have been annoyed at my TT02 for sitting around collecting dust. After debating selling it (decided not too after I totaled up my hop ups) I figured I'd do the height switch and go rally.

I just got rally tires in today and currently still on the stock motor but I can't wait to bash it. Down side is I have some eagle racing shocks on it and they don't seem to allow for much travel. I did grind the stops off per the previous recommendation.

So question, approx how much ground clearance should I shoot for?

As much as you possibly can without looking silly. I'm using 60mm shocks all the way around. They are the cheaper Yeah Racing shocks but they work ok. They will probably get replaced by Gmade XD shocks in 62mm on the front and I may try the 75mm on the rear and mod the rear mount for them.

I just bought one of these chassis for my son (his first real R/C) and he loves it. There was a vendor selling them cheap on fleabay, so I couldn't resist. It's running the AE-1 ESC and 27t motor from my old Dingo and, even with a stock motor, that thing is pretty fast. Even though I love my WR8, I think I am going to be getting another TT-02 for myself so that we can play on equal footing. "thumbsup"

And for those interested in getting a little more travel out of the suspension, this guy has some suggestions.

Yeah, I'm bringing a dormant thread back to life. My boy is still loving his TT-02, but he's starting to lament the lack of speed and the fact that the nicads he's running on start to slow down after about 5 mins. I guess it's not a whole lot of fun watching dad's WR8 on 3S run circles around you. Long story short he'll be going brushless soon. I hope the car (and he) can handle all the extra power.

Have any of ya'll upgraded the suspension with the components from the 'Type-s' kit? I'm dying to know how much better it is with the reworked 'factory' suspension before I try and track down all the components.
