Carter, in some of the pics i see you or someone else in your group are running with the spare tyre carrier - don't you find it's just too heavy to bring along for the ride? Or does the fact you've got dual shocks negate that issue?

We and most others have found that it helps offset the heavy front end. Dual shocks have nothing to do with the added weight of the tire as we haven't added heavier oil or running dual springs. The spare helps settle the rear end

Aha good, i've just bought myself some of that :)

I might go for a firmer spring too.

I like the look of the spare and also thought it would add a little needed weight out back but I found that it hindered performance at speed. The sway bar arms would hit the tire and not allow for full compression of the rear shock.

Is this not the case on your rig or I'm I being to picky or over dramatic about 3/16"?

They will bump the tire but there is enough movement in the mount that it actually doesn't stop the travel of the shock. Also depends on if you're using a factory wheel or aftermarket wheel on the spare. When we had the Method wheel mounted, it's narrower and didn't not make any contact.

After looking at it awhile longer and poking & pushing at it I think my problem is the foam. I'm running a CI 6 bolt DE wheel as the spare with a DW blemished foam Eddie sent as packing material from another order.

It's way to hard, if I would've used some sort of standard gray foam it would be way softer and the arms would just push into the soft tire/foam and not be limited at all. Duh.

Got all of the Axial upgraded aluminum pieces installed this weekend.

Also installed a factory Axial locker up front to see how I like it. If all goes well, I'll swap in a HD gear set and spool.
Now just waiting on our newest product to come off the machines.
Licensed Method Racing Mesh wheels. Fully machined Delrin in black or white!!

We've also got another wheel in the same offerings with a more classic look.

Keeping with the Method mantra, "Lighter. Stronger. Faster."

Oooh I like those methods. Any chance there is a custom option....or more wheel designs.

For now the Mesh and the classic "holes" wheels are the only two designs we will be doing. The holes wheel is easily modified to larger holes or even to a litter spoke design by opening a slot connecting every two holes. Old school looking slot mag style. Any custom work like that will be done on the manual machines.

Good thread so far mate, very informative!

What firmness springs did you go with in the back?

gdb85 - if you just want the spare on the back for looks, maybe you could leave out the foams? It'd reduce weight too.

Stock springs are working fine for us. I backed the preload collars off around a 1/4". That's all.

What's the eta on the wheels? Also, I am assuming they are true 1 inch?

I will take the first batch, as I almost ordered another set of 6 bolts today, but hesitated.
