What new car for $60k?

$60k...Here's my list,

1.) F-350, Lariat, Crew Cab, Short Bed, 6.7 Powerstroke
2.) Trent Fab Buggy (or another ultra 4 buggy)
3.) Ford Raptor, shelby package if possible
4.) The new GT350 Mustang

And before some yippy yahoo says a having the f350 is impracticable. My '96 powerstroke has twice as many miles and hours towing than being used as my dd.
The other 3 cars on my list would just be toys.

My 2 options would be;

Dodge Hellcat Challenger, start around $59.000.

Or
Porsche Cayman start around $63,000.

Ive been enjoying my Audi for almost 2 years, so I have to suggest an Audi. I had a new Audi S4 as a loaner for a week. What a blast to drive, put my previous Subaru WRX to shame (at a price of course). Audi S4 / S5 gets my vote.

If this person is a tech geek the new Audi TT has an impressive gauge cluster, I believe the TTS is close to hitting the states as well.

Eh.. for 60k I'd build what I want instead of buying it. Could do it cheaper as far as budget, and it would fit my tastes better.

..In other words, a 69 Buick GS 400 w/ built fuel injected 455 (probably twin turbo) , tubbed & lowered. Would be a nice weekend cruiser, with plenty of power on demand.

60K is a tough price point. Everything I come up with is 65k starting price.

Forgot to add the Cadillac ATS-V coupe. Starts at 64K.

I drove a few AST-V Coupe/Sedans at work, not all that impressed.

I say Nissan 370z

You just gotta love the orig 455 buick..what only 25lbs more than a sb 350 and something like 500ft lbs torque from the factory"thumbsup"
I tried to buy a nice 455 for my Regal but the owner just wont let it go..sitting in the corner of the shop all lonely.

Psst.. 455 longblock, 68 430 big port heads and intake. "thumbsup"

I know where there's a low mile 68 Electra in the neighboring town for sale. Got the 430 in it.. Owner won't part with just the motor, and I can't justify $3,500 to buy it just for the drive train. Too much going on in my off-work hours to part it out.

I know its says "new" car, but if it were my money, I'd try the second hand market. Just a quick search locally brought up some pretty sweet rides!

Lotus Elise, incredible handling and braking, and not enough raw power to truly bite you if you get sloppy. Basically, the supermoto of cars.

Or, look for a nice used Porsche GT2 RS used.

Both highly touted as drivers cars, no electronic fiddle faddle to save you, actual gearboxes and shifters, you have to learn to drive the car.

If you're into electronic fiddle faddle, the track time I spent at BMW in an E92 M3 was very enjoyable. I'd own one in a heartbeat, cliche or not. Very plush insisde, and tame until you want it not to be.

60G?, something not a daily driver, cruiser, hot rod, take out once in a while, for that money, have something new built to your tastes. With all the shows out there in TV land, I'm sure you could find a builder to come up with a car or truck, domestic or import, with a handling and power package to your liking. Factory race Camaro's start @ $100G, Challenger Hellcat @ $60G, Saleen Mustang @ $43G

I'd personally look at some of the offerings from Icon, but that's just me.

"Fun" is so relative; go-fast twistie road canyon carver? Desert/outback type vehicle? Attention whore car?

Hell, go all out with one of these:

The motorhome market bottomed out once gas prices reached $4 a gallon. Can pick up a half million dollar motor home for pennys on the dollar now. "thumbsup"

Ariel Atom? Shoot, I don't even know where to get one in the states anymore...

If you can figure out how to get a chassis, you could end up with a freaking V8 on a 1,200 lb car.

I have a friend who works in a shop that gets cars like those in when the owners are too damn cheap to take them to a dealer to fix or maintain the things. As he puts it, just because that used Ferrari is now $30k and the price makes it tempting, it still just as expensive to maintain as a new Ferrari. Back in the summer of 2012 he sent me the text with a front engine, V-12 Ferrari that had been brought in for an oil and filter change.......12 quarts of oil, 2 air filters, 2 oil filters, and almost $2k in parts and labor later, the car was done. They also have another Ferrari that just came in for it 7 year/15,000 mile timing belt replacement, I was afraid to ask how much that was going to cost.

If you're wondering what he drives, a retired Michigan Highway Patrol Crown Vic"thumbsup"

new car don't mean modern car
