HPI in insolvency?
 
Looks like Venture RC will be RC's version of vaporware until this BS is settled.

HPI had good things going for it in the past. It seems mismanagement won here. As of late, you couldn't even get parts for their vehicles without a struggle.

Basically HPI's Europe subsidiary went belly up and HPI moved European distribution to another company. There was an article on Live RC or Neobuggy a few weeks ago.

Hopefully their racing scene can get turned around. Really like their new TC and its been performing well for them. Now they just got to get off the coat tales of the Blitz and bring something new for that class.

But hopefully they stick with the Venture and don't scrap that plan. :mrgreen:

Is it still a rumor that HPI will be building a crawler rig.
If not when is it coming out after they settle this crap

sure it is. it separates teh chaff from the wheat. Unfortunately, HPI is run by Chaff, and not Wheat. :D

They've been struggling, both on US soil and in Europe, for a while now. I'd like to see them straighten up and do better, but if they can't, then they need to go away, imo. Since they don't make their own cars, I'm sure another company would pick up the designs and parts support.
 
The problem is, they got stagnant. 10-15 years ago they were innovative, and one of the industry giants. This is what happens when you rest on your laurels while the competition continues to drive forward.

You mean 15 years of variations on the savage isn't innovative? :lmao: even Traxxas has had more diversity at times. :shock:


edit: It seemed like a "no-brainer" to come out with a ladder chassis for the crawler king, but they didn't do anything with it.

I'll have you know they also put a stupidly overpriced truck body on a 1/5 buggy and called it a short course truck during that time also. :mrgreen:

Based on the information that I have gathered from searching governmental filings is the HPI Europe is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hobby Products International Holdings, Inc, which is based in California. This leads me to believe that Hobby Products International Inc. (aka HPI USA) is also a wholly owned subsidiary.

HPI Europe is in bankruptcy (or the equivalent in their country), not Hobby Products International Holdings, Inc so HPI will continue with a new distributor in Europe and likely no changes in North America. The long term outlook however is unclear since they are a privately held company and not required to publish their financial statements.

Kawi is correct. HPI Europe, more accurately HPI UK, was a subsidiary of HPI Inc. Last year the HB portion of HPI Europe already shifted distribution to Neidhart SA. If I were to sorta read the tea leaves, this was a test to see how they performed, and the longterm goal was always to shift HPI over to Neidhart SA as well.

This would leave HPI Europe/UK redundant and pointless, so insolvency makes since. I don't think there were any bespoke platforms let (like the Bullet series used to be) nor much in the way of engineering/development happening very much over there anyways.
