Open Or Concealed Carry?

I've carried concealed for many years, it's my preference due to not wanting to draw attention of ANY kind.

Conceal carry every day I'm not at work. I'd rather be the "SURPRISE MF'er!!" man. Than be the first target.
MS just finalized the open carry law a year or so ago. I see someone open carrying about once a month. 75% of them I could probably take their weapon from them without them knowing....

"You kids have been nothin' but punks. Sissified. So quick to pick up a gun. Too scared to take an ass-whipping. [Raises his fists] This is what makes you a man. When I was growing up, this was all the protection we needed. You win some, you lose some. But you live, you live to fight another day! Now you think you're a man with a gun in your hands, don't you?"

I don't think it's a good idea to advertise that you are armed in public, might as well put a big neon target on your back. I find it easy to conceal, even under light clothing, and if it prints a bit when bending over or reaching out most people won't notice, and those that do are probably also carrying.

I'm too old to run away, and not stupid enough to engage in fisticuffs. At my age criminals see me as 'Easy-Pickings', my family and I refuse to be "victims". Carrying a firearm is a very serious responsibility, if you don't see it that way you have no business being armed. There is no substitute for proper training and the correct mindset, avoid confrontation, have situational awareness at all times.

Yup I see that reference was missed by some.

Me personally I don't carry at all. I have solid situational awareness that keeps me out of harms way for the most part and I avoid "dangerous" areas.

My oldest brother is a gun nut and everyone in his family has their CC permit. I suppose it's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

I personally think cc is the way to go, don't like anyone to know I carry except my family. Open carry if something happens people look to you to do something and your a target.

I would open carry, but sadly my ***** home country wont allow law abiding citizens any form of carrying a weapon
Even carrying a tree branch can land you in truble, surely done wave it at sone one.
Dont even carry a knife with a blade larger than the average tooth pick.

Since the new law changed in Texas in January I have only seen one person open carry and that was 4 days ago (March 24th). Once I actually take the time to do the class I will carry but not open, no sense drawing attention to myself like that.

Open Carrying scares too many people.

Well that's the problem, people are so sensitive to seeing a gun. That is why more people should open carry so the general public would be more comfortable around firearms. Who looks more suspicious someone with a gun on their hip or one tucked into their pants? At some point the concealed firearm will be come exposed as scare someone. Ever read about stories of people being tackled and restrained until the cops show up only to find out that they are legally allowed to conceal/carry a firearm? Well this is the world we live in and it's only a matter of time until that right is take from us, or some liberal mother sues someone because "seeing a gun offends her and her hippie family".

Rant over......carry on

While I understand the benefit of concealed carry. I cannot agree more with this, especially the first two sentences. I think exactly that. I would actually call it an irrational fear, for most people, thanks to the media. I know that open carry would cause unwanted attention for a lot of people. But it'd be great if the general public came 'round & didn't see guns as the enemy.

Sadly, I think that's merely a pipe dream now...

Around here people carry both ways and lots without permits as they feel it's none of big brothers business. For me I believe in always having one close by as does my family.
