SCX10 G6 With Trailing Arms

For my YouTube channel, Krawl Zone, I wanted to do a series that I take a stock SCX10 and upgrade it to get it to be a solid performer then document the effects by video, then show the use and abuse at Axial Fest. The SCX10 I chose is the Falken Edition Jeep Wrangler G6. The reason I chose this over the kit is, I want to show people that are relatively new to the crawling/trail scene what you can do with an RTR, plus it comes stock with 32 pitch gears. This is to document the changes and performance that is gained from what I do to the Falken Edition Jeep.

Here is a quick baseline video and pics to start out with.

Very cool idea for a series, I look forward to it. I've had a stock Falken for about a month. Seeing incremental performance gains will be interesting. There are a lot of builds with $$, bling, and static flex shots. . . those are cool too, but they don't help me conquer the giant rock in my backyard that keeps putting me on my lid!

I hear ya, I love watching the big $ builds but, I just don't have that kind of money laying around collecting dust. I've been wanting to do something like this for a while just on my own, now I have 2 good reasons to. Usually, I upgrade parts right away due to what everyone says to upgrade first. With this one, I'm starting from the bottom and seeing where I end up. I have an idea of what I'll need to do but, I'm thinking I might get surprised.

Looking forward to this, I've got a G6 just put a tekin combo in it after killing my hobbywing brushed set up last week

Just installed the Axial 12" wheelbase link kit after bending the plastic parts, don't get me wrong some flex is good and the links would definitely work, but the steering link is horrible.

After installing the link I decided to test them out on some non-scale driving, just to see if they can take the abuse, it seems that they might have introduced a new problem...

After the shock tower screw issue, I have installed Vanquish towers with some Proline Racing Powerstroke shocks with the almighty blue locktight.

Really helped the suspension move and articulate smoother and the shock towers are firm and look awesome.

I also got the Knightcustoms G6 grill and started the install. The detail on the radiator and the radiator supports are insane! Kudos to Knightcustoms!

Last year the Falken G6 did amazing, no breaks or issues for the whole Axialfest 2015, I'm going to be using this again at this years Axialfest but going to be changing it up a bit.

I mounted up some custom length trailing arms using Scalerfab rock sliders to adjust the rear driveshaft angle and some Cbercfab link tabs to mount the trailing arms to.

Loving how it looks and how much of a difference it made.

Awesome start for a build. My G6 was my first scx10. I liked it so much I picked up a deadbolt for my girl. If you want some cheap upgrade ideas check out Harley designs deadbolt build. Not all of it is cheap, but some of the mods are pretty much free and do quite a bit to help; like relocation g the battery tray up front

Thanks a lot for the input, as this isn't my first or only SCX10 (by quite a ways check out: http://www.krawlzone.tv/krawlzonerc/?v=7516fd43adaa ) I'm going to be trying some new things on it.

I had the trailing arms made by a guy on facebook that does quite a bit of axial parts, the page name is Metal Fab by Reed (MFR) he does great work and ships it out fast.

I took it out for a test drive yesterday and it has some severe torque twist, it's so bad that when you turn to the right the inside wheel waves at you, even at slow speed.

I threw on a Wraith front swaybar and it tamed the torque twist quite a bit. Now it only lifts the right wheel when you peg the throttle.

The pro-line shocks work really well, just need to get some softer springs for them, right now they're back to the stock shocks while I wait for my new ones to get here.

Got travel... this is with the sway bar mounted, without it, there's about 5-10mm more travel.

Found some gnarly dirt mounds at a construction site and proceeded to drive around on them, I didn't have the sway bar on since I need to adjust it due to the lower sway bar links hitting the axle brace but, it crawled and drove like a champ. Stock shocks worked great but will be trying some others to find the sweet spot. On the dirt the torque twist didn't bother me or interfere with the crawl-ability. The Proline BFG Baja's worked great and you could really hear them gripping in and clawing at the dirt, think I'll keep them on it but I need a new jeep body so I'm not mix and matching sponsors.
