Yeah I am absolutely against National Parks went they take private or state land from its owner to create.
The federal government has no legal right to own land, yet they are the largest land owner in the west. Go figure.
The Federal Government realistically owns every square meter of this country. Its called the right of eminent domain: 5th amendment: and it includes but not limited to the air, the water and the land. But more specifically to your statement:
Its in the constitution, and called the Property Clause. And the federal government can own land.
"The congress shall have the power to dispose of and make all needful rules and regulations respecting the territory or other property belonging to the United States".
Addendum Comments:
FYI, straight from facts, the federal government owns roughly 30% of the land in the US. A portion of that is military bases and targeting ranges, some is in the form of nuclear institutions, for example, INL consisting of 890 square miles in central Idaho, and there are many others.
But most of the federally owned land is in the form of Forest Service Lands and BLM lands, which as an avid hunter, hiker, dirt bike rider, and not least a TOY TRUCK DRIVER I greatly appreciate being able to use at my liesure with little to no restrictions, FOR FREE! Making a point here, with no federal lands we would have to ASK PERMISSION OR PAY every land owner to utilize that sweet crawling spot, or the epic mountain bike trail or the sweetest dirt bike forest service road, or "insert your interest here"............ And how many of these private land owners are going to say yes when you ask to tromp on their property with your toy truck, or dirtbike, or mountian bike etc?
Not a personal assault, but nothing wrong with the factual truth, right?
Peace
