Servo Recommendation

Maslin, have you beat on the Savox 2290 yet?

I don't have one. I bought the Bluebird h50b before the 2290 was out. That broke within an hour. Picked up a case to fix my 1283 and installed with the VP mount. Haven't had any problem since.

I think the 3 piece servo mount was letting the ears "flex" on the case, breaking them off.

If I break another 1283 case I will probably try the 2290, I've always had very good luck with Savox, my onroad, 1/8 buggy, 1/8 truggy, crawlers all have Savox now.

They should donate one to you to see if you can break it ;-)

I'm happy to pay for and see if I can break it :lmao: Hard to justify a $150 servo with a perfectly good $120 servo on the Bomber now.

Sponsorship/free is tough when I have nothing more to give than an honest review on the internet. Western Montana isn't exactly a hub of rc activity, just a handful of guys. I may be finding my way to western Oregon this summer, I would love to create a bigger presence in this rc world.

Who knows what time will bring. I don't even know what I'm going to do for work out there, and I'm fine with that "thumbsup"

+1 on the 1283:

I'm beating it every single month in the U4 races and still going strong.

I've broken a 1283. Snapped the mount off of the mid case that supports the back of the output. Has a large amount of slop in the output and thought a bearing went out. Once I pulled it apart I realized what was broke. Can't get it fixed but I still use it in my old rc10 ;)

Good to hear since I have one on the way.

Some people can break anything. :lmao: How did you break it?

From my amount of reading and research on here it seems like the two goto servos for durability are the 1283 and the 420v4. Im waiting to see how WHITE-TRASH feels the new Savox Monster servo holds up in the loNH run. I think that's the one he just got.

I'm not really sure. It was in my wraith with a vanquish CMS setup and the only thing I could think of was that it took a hit right on the out put / servo arm but to break the case and still work seemed odd.

I'd like to fix it but that part of the case is jammed into the out put with the plastic washer that rests on the potentiometer. If I try heating it I'll melt that washer.

But like I said it still works!

Had a racer's edge clamping servo arm on my HV500 in my Bomber, well I blew out the spline on the arm this weekend. Servo is fine. Ordered 2 VP arms to try out.

Also got this one in today to try out

The 7950 is a light weight these days. I'm going to order up one of those protek 370's to try next. Been a fan of the 170 for years.

I ran my new Holmes HV500 for two u4 race heats and it got real sloppy. I called them up and they had me ship it back with a prepaid label. They emailed me a couple days later and said the center pin broke. They were out of stock on the hv500 so they shipped me back the shv500. I hope this one holds up a bit better because i would support this kind of company all day long. Their customer service is phenomenal!

Isn't it better to not need customer service at all?

I'm around Mercedes all day, they're really nice and safe and have a good warranty, but they spent half their life in the shop. My wife drives a Jeep, 100k miles and not a single problem. Not one check engine light or break down, on the second set of tires.

I'll take the Jeep every day of the week.

My thoughts..... not a dig but that is so true. I hear great things about CS, and just as much about broken pins.

Yes I run HH esc's on multiple rigs

Hang up and Drive

Absolutely not a dig at anyone. I have a Holmes motor in my Bomber, a warranty replacement I received as an upgrade from him years ago. I had the old school silver brushless motor, the front bearing went out. He sent me back the updated black trailmaster motor, a $20 or so upgrade at no cost.

I have nothing bad to say about HH, my experience with them has been great. I have not used the servos, broken center pins would be a weekend killer for me.
