HobbiCo / Great Planes / Tower Hobbies

I dont think Horizon would buy them either. What about Team Associated? They are pretty much the only ones not in the crawler market and they dont have IFS/Solid rear vehicles either. Maybe they could make the Yeti not suck.

Dont think they would, never been a company that buys anyone. If Losi gos into scalers then yeah maybe but AE is a race company.

Associated is owned by Thunder Tiger, who I think would be a strong candidate for buying Axial. They do not currently have a significant entry into the crawler market, they have willingness to buy into a market they don't have (see Associated purchase), and they own their manufacturing facilities.

TA has that kinda pricey indy Nomad thing. It does looks good on YouTube though.
Associated makes awesome stuff. The SC8 was great, but it didn't get the love it deserved like most Associated bashers. The same goes for Losi. They make great stuff, but they don't get the love and it doesn't make any sense.

Hmm that's an interesting point you make there.

Jato- associated and Losi don’t get more acclaim from the average guy because of all of the proprietary crap that they use.. even Losi vehicle to vehicle won’t work because everything changes every time they release a new car and then all the old model stuff becomes obsolete and unavailable, get with the standard size stuff and maybe see more crossover sales from the Tamiya and traxxas market.

How many people have a once expensive Losi car that is broken because of a cheap$ part that just doesn’t exist anymore.. I do and will never buy Losi again

Can you name an example?

My 1/24 Rally’s and 1/36 High Roller are getting harder to find parts for..... My SC10 seems to have parts available still. But all those are boxed up and put away anyway. Not really ‘expensive’ though.

Edit
Forgot about my Trekker and LMcC or the LMC axles I just got for a project.

The micros were around for a long time and they discontinued those models. Of course parts are going to be hard to find. That happens to everything eventually. That's not a fair knock on a company IMO.

I still run my losi jrx-t and jrx pro se using aftermarket parts. Sure, there's stuff like the losi strike, but there's a reason that model doesn't have parts anymore...it sucked from the beginning ;D

I think associated is better than losi about parts support, but that's only after Gil sold the company. Lack of losi part support should be blamed on horizon. Look at the way parts support is with vaterra, same thing.

True. It wouldn’t be cost effective but it’d be nice if they’d make a few batches of parts every couple of years. Even if they wanted a premium price. Maybe do like Tamiya and release the popular classics again so everyone can buy a few for spares or to just have.

Yeah, but losi is nowhere near the size of Tamiya. You're talking about a lot of money tied up in tooling, dies, packaging, labor and warehousing. Not to mention expecting distributors and retailers to stock those parts and keep some of their money tied up in those parts as well.

Xxx-b rear A-arm mount. Xx-t T plate that ties the whole rear suspension to the chassis. Both are broken so my (at the time) pimptacular rigs sit on the shelf.

The XXX-B and XXX-T are long discontinued. Are you surprised they don't offer parts for them?

If you guys want to learn about the lack of parts support buy a Proline RC. They keep their kits around for a year or two and as soon as they're out of stock it's nearly impossible to find parts.

Can you say ambush?
You can say it, but you can't buy one. :lmao:

Same thing goes for the Pro-2 short course truck and Pro-2 buggy. That's why I'm baffled people are overpaying for the new Pro-MT kit.

You said to name an example of an expensive losi that we cannot get parts for. I cited 2.

Why would I worry about a proline rig? If it's not old losi or axial based I haven't got the slightest care about it. Hell axial can fade away at this point since the aftermarket makes every single part I'll likely need or want.

I should have said good example. :flipoff:

Oh and :flipoff: Axial too. The only Axial product I'd miss is the Bomber and I already have one so I'm good.

Funny. I just looked at my Bomber and the only Axial part on it is the Skid and hood hinge. Oh and the dimensions but that's not a part.

I had a few mrc’s that are done, also one of my 2wd buggies, can’t remember which one as I use none of them, is shelved, but the dumbest thing I can point to is associated using non-standard hardware. The weird size wheel nuts are enough for me to not buy another t/a vehicle

AE abandoned SAE and went to Metric years ago.

Been that long since I had one.. a tc4 was the last new associated I had. How long ago was that..? And they both still have weird wheel offsets on the sct’s. Slash was the first sct, and the most common, why be different just to be different?!? So that I need multiple sets of the same wheels and tires if I want to race with my kids?
