1.9 Barrage RTR 1/10 Crawler

I'm not sure the width of the scx10 skid. I do know the the bumper mounts fit with a little filing work. If I get a chance I can measure the barrage skid since mine is torn down to nothing at the moment.

That would be awesome man. Appreciate it"thumbsup"

Planning on throwing some SCX10 axles under this as well. I priced out the Doomsday units per your suggestion since I ended up getting the deal on the RTR rig. Adds up quick with housings, axles, lockouts, c-hubs, and knuckles.

I've got some nice "chanquish" scx10 axles i've been sitting on for a Wraith 1.9 project I was considering. I think they've found a new home in the Barrage.

That was kinda what I did but got some Everest 10 axles.
Playing around the other day I did find out short revo rod ends fit the lower link pockets in the skid would have to drill and tap for 3mm since stock is 2mm. I was thinking about trying it. Only thing is not sure if there is enough plastic there to do such a thing. since I have a cutting board I'm going to make a skid out of for my project I might try it.

I also have a skid from my old AX10 i could play around with. Worst case, I think I can make one using some aluminum angle stock and flat aluminum stock. The whole deal would be a lot easier to think on if I had the rig in my hands!:lmao:

Cutting board skid is a great idea. Derlin slides great. I wonder if someone has already done a Barrage 1.9 skid with AX/SCX style Trans holes on Shapeways????

Just trying to get my ducks in a row though so I can get a running start.

So - had an idea. I just went ahead and ordered Axial SCX10 Frame Brace Set that comes with the skid. (AX80026). I'll just re-space the barrage frame with the Axial frame braces and it will provide the proper width for the SCX10 skid so I don't have to dick around with cutting it down, etc. Guessing I may still need to drill some new holes in the frame rails to accept the SCX skid, but that's no biggie.

Thoughts?

I had the same thought just never pulled the trigger on it. One thing the frame is flat on both end not like the scx10 which is bent in the front. One nice thing there is a lot of holes around the shock hoops area. Also I have the thought that scx10 rear shock hoop could work again never tried tho.

Just checked out some images of the Barrage frame. I think you could definitely use SCX10 rear shock hoops on both ends!"thumbsup" Good catch!

As far as the Axial Frame Brace Set, I figured what the heck. For $18.99, Even if it doesn't work out on the barrage, I'll find someplace I can use it!

Can't wait to see your build on this. Your kinda running down the same path as I am.

Sounds like it for sure. Great minds think alike and all!:lmao: I'm one of those "weirdos" that seem to enjoy building, tinkering, fabbing and modifying them as much as running them. Check out my 1.9 Truggy build over in the 1.9 forums if you get a chance. I think I titled the thread something like "just ordered new custom truggy chassis". She turned out pretty sweet, but as with all my rigs, it's a never ending process of tweaking, building and trying to perfect them."thumbsup"

Brilliant idea on those rear shock hoops hillbillyrc."thumbsup" I just found some Integy alloy units sold separately as front and rear. Ordered 2 sets of rears. Again, even if I have to drill some new holes in the Barrage frame rails - no biggie at all. I'll throw her on the drill press and go to town! That said, the chances look good that I won't even have to with the number of holes out back and up front. At this point, I think I've got everything I need to get her up on the SCX10 axles, 4 linked, AX/SCX style skid and trans. I think i'm also going to use the Dravtech shocks that I had ordered for my Truggy on this little sucker. (The Truggy weight just overwhelmed them up front).

Humm ... SCX10 frame braces, shock hoops, skid, transmission, axles ... you'd better go to a set of SCX10 frame rails ;)

I know Right!?:lmao:

Well, it all started snowballing when I realized I wanted to go full size motor. Like I said in my post above though, I like working on them as much or more than running them so it's all good. She'll definitely be a 1 off by the time i'm done.

And, I did get a super deal on the RTR kit, and most of the other SCX based stuff I already have like the axles, shocks, links, trans, etc.

Someone put an Axial trans in mine with a 380 VXL system. I know I couldn't get a 540 in there unless I shoved the transmission over even farther.

How does that work with the sensor-less, more high speed VXL motor/esc combo!? It's gotta be crazy in that little rig!

I run it on 2S. It’s geared at 16/83? I think. It’s isnt crazy fast but it definitely moves out. I live in Indiana though so some wheelspeed is needed here but I plan on gearing it down a touch more.

I'm assembling parts to commence my build as we speak. Got some more goodies in today from RPP. I'll post as the build gets started and progresses.

Brainstain - Can you post a pic from the motor side kinda looking down on it? I'd like to get a better idea of the clearance, or lack thereof!

Brainstain..... I've had a 380 VXL Motor/ESC combo, new, but collecting dust for almost 4 years!! You may have sparked an idea....
I had assumed that they were for 1:16-1:18th Scale Rigs. This news opens options!! Thank you!

Hmm mm......... I wonder now if it might work on a light, 1:10th Scale Rig?? Since it likely spins Stupid Fast, maybe some ridiculous low gearing? Maybe 48p, 92/15??
I'm nearly certain that my next project is going to be a Deadbolt - built piece by scrounged piece! THIS would save big bux, if I didn't have to buy a Motor and ESC! ;-)

This Forum really gets ideas flowing!!

I'm working on something for us barrage/rock cruiser/ outback owners and future owners. Hope it turns out and helps others.

Has anyone tried a Traxxas VXL 380 Combo in a Barrage, or one of it's clones??
That may be a better, budgetless friendly project.....

I'm really glad to see these Rig getting some love!
