photobucket what happend

I had PB for years and it was free, but I have lots of pics there, so needed to pay for more storage...price used to be reasonable so I did it...not anymore. Now PB is like kidnappers asking for ransom!

I tried to download my pictures from PB and all 3 times the file was corrupt....WTF

so I just deleted my acct... F@#K them

I tried to download my albums as well.
it never worked, i tried 2 computers and 2 locations, with 2 different browsers.
it just kept doing nothing, or saying "oops something went wrong try again"

yup, same story with me.....

Try doing it through your Phone App. Tha'ts what I had to do. Wouldn't work on the PC for me.

I want to take the chance to apologize for not be willing to pay that amount of money in order to be able to show you some mediocre pics of my builts until further notice. Need to find a reliable new way to post pics first - and then relink old threads. Don't get me wrong, I am willing to pay for hosting service/hardware space, but they want to charge more than all my Dropbox Pro, Apple icloud, Amazon prime and website/mail hosting services all together. Farewell PB, you will be a "404" sooner than you think.

On a sidenote: Is there a way to find out, how much (uploaded and remote/external) data is available through a forum like RCC? How much would it cost forums (or would have to charge clients) in order to host the pics they show on their own?

@ fxman-

you have a star ( thanks for purchasing one !) use the 'User CP' tab, open an album for pics, upload the pics from yer PC into the album, open a 2nd tab of RCC and paste a link from the photo album into the thread that you want a pic to appear in. "thumbsup"

Just wanted to say FAWK photobucket again. I was searching here and reminded of how much of a d!ck move they pulled. Many many many many good threads are tarnished now. Word can only go so far in describing builds, pictures complete the thoughts.

Thanks again to the kind people that have moved their pictures to other hosts and repopulated their build threads with good links again. Kudos to you all!!

Agreed. - years of work down the drain, and soooo many great threads lost.

I moved over to Flickr - the linking is a bit tedious, but the site works pretty smoothly.

I guess my biggest complaint is...all the ads photobucket had for YEARs and they complained about not making money. yea right, they just got greedy.

It was frustrating to use for awhile because of so many ads being loaded. even adblock didnt catch them all

Anyone else get these emails ?

60 bucks for a year......!
EDIT... My pic not popping up, well got an email about a 59.99 a year package deal ! Lol

Which image hosts have you guys moved to?

Flickr was good, but they are going pro. Imgur doesn't seem to allow anything other than full-size embedding which makes for huge photos on here which is a no go. imgbb is what I'm using now and it is OK, but you either get thumbnails, "medium" which is actually small or full-size embedding and that's it.

I use imgur, but I hate that you can't edit size on the mobile version like you can in the regular version.

I couldn't find a way to resize photos on Imgur. I must have missed it. Where do you see that option?

Imgur's app and mobile site both suck for anything more than uploading. The desktop site is the only version worth using.

You have to use the desktop site for the resizing option. I use large thumbnail for all my pics.

Really, all it does is stick a l (lowercase L) in front of the .jpg in the image tag so you could resize after pasting in the tag if you really want.

Dammit. I have no idea how I missed that. :lmao: Thanks for the heads up!

I did try the app on my iPad as well and didn't see it, but now I know why I didn't. It's dumb that their app doesn't have this option.

Thanks again. "thumbsup"
