I’ve wanted a Trailfinder 2 for a bit after seeing a few locals run their TF2s, and admiring the scale driving and leaf spring suspension, I bit the bullet and started a search.

Enter this heck of a build. I think it’s been through a couple of owners here and those previous owners have done a great job. I don’t plan on changing much here other than servo, wheels, and tires. Not sure if a build thread existed before for it.

Details from the previous owner are below:

Z boxes on the front and rear, revolver shackles on the rear.
Rc4wd complete tf2 interior
Led headlights and taillights.
Chino mod
Rc4wd warn 9.5 tci winch with wireless controller
Gelande shock hoops in the front
100mm Rc4wd bilstein front shocks.
Rc4wd ultimate scale 90 mm rear shocks

This is my first true tiny tire truck and I’m on the hunt for wheels and tires. Feel free to throw out any suggestions. Currently the 1.55 berserker is the front runner. Maybe the 4.19 km3s but I’d like to run a 1.55 or 1.7 wheel and tire.

Thanks for the read

Not sure any build thread was ever posted. The body was sure a wreck when it landed on my workbench. Hope this truck gives plenty of scale lovin’

Nice find! Truck looks awesome and in good condition. Was it originally a Marlin? It kinda looks like it.

Can’t wait to see what you have in store for this.

I joined the leaf spring club today too. Just ordered a Marlin. Hoping to start a thread soon.

You did a hell of a job man. The interior is incredible too. Thanks again!

That’s awesome B! Can’t wait to see your build.

Yes this is a marlin. It will get its first action this Sunday with a couple other tf2s, pictured with the taco Rex below.

Congrats! I keep telling myself that I'll run one of my TRX4's next time out... That was 3 outings ago. I'm sure it's partly because I'm still in the honeymoon phase with the TF2, but man... such a fun rig! Congrats. Paint/ weathering looks fantastic. BTW I absolutely LOVE the RC4WD Mud Slingers on this truck. They come in a little large with an OD of approx 106.10mm but they've truly been a fantastic tire for me.

Thumbs up, what a good looking truck. Love the interior detail too.

That is good looking tire! Can you post a pic of them mounted? Might have to use them on a different truck.

I’m getting a first run in with it tomorrow, I wouldn’t be surprised if it takes over Sundays for a few weeks either.

Sweet truck, nice score, me like! You nailed it with 1.55 Berserkers, love mine! Don’t run 1.9s.

I did end up going with the 1.55 berserkers. I’ll have them tomorrow or Tuesday "thumbsup"

Thanks Levi! JW did some great work on the interior.

I'm going to mount them on a different wheel... something with a bit more negative offset b/c the larger size + aggressive lugs of the Mud Slingers have them slightly contacting the leaf-springs when turning hard drive/ hard pass. They just work so well that I don't want to go with anything else... plus they don't rub the fender wells, so I simply want to move them out a few mm.

If yea wanna get right crazy lmao...... Pitbull just released a 1.55 xor made perfect for the tf2 and i know a guy that cnc machines wheels lol custom to ur needs. Turns out theyre no where near as expensive as one might think[emoji15][emoji15]

Thanks for the pics and the info! Both trucks look awesome!

I got the tf2 out for the first time today for some light trailing. Had a blast. swapped the servo which helped a lot.

Nice pics! TF2 looks good out in the wild!

Which servo did you end up using?

Thanks B! "thumbsup"

The servo is just the cheap ecopower 110t, nothing fancy but it is more servo than the stocker and it’s waterproof, giving it a go.

Motor/esc may be next. Will be a HW1080, but for the motor is a 540 or 550 can the way to go?

The Marlin is by far the best TF2 available. Its the best way to do tiny tires IMO. I got first in the comp series with mine last year and aside from electronics, a winch, and some scale goodies, it is stock. My springs look like Ws now but its still my go to rig.

540 is fine.

I agree smaller tires are better! The xors are 3.75 which fit perfectly no rub whatsoever which is awesome since the last thing i wanted to do was start trimming fenders

Hey thanks! I might have to try that servo. I have HW 1080 ready to go in. I'm thinking a 540 will be going in mine.

I’ve heard stories about you dominating with a stock marlin, I didn’t realize they were talking about you till much later. Those stories have a whole lot to do with why this one is sitting here with me today "thumbsup"

Right? This ain’t a lexan body, I’m not about to trim anything.

It seems like more than enough to move these tiny tires. I’ll let you know if I run into any issues but for $39.99 it can get in the truck and show what it’s got.

Speaking of these tiny tires, the berserkers and rc4wd 1.55s showed up. I’m pretty happy with these but I don’t like having to remove the 6 tiny lugs to get to the hex. I need to get a better tool for that as I did it with the head of a hex screw and some pliers, not fun.

Also, anyone running these and have an opinion good or bad? https://store.rc4wd.com/Scale-Steel-Punisher-Shaft-100mm--130mm-394--512-5mm_p_819.html

I've been seeing this truck on Instaspam. I love what you did with the interior. What did you use to paint those tiny features?
