How Do I get more steering angle?

I am purchasing an Axial UMG10 and I want to get more steering angle out of it. I am going to be building a class 1 truck to run at my local hobby shop and the courses are tight so I want more steering angle. I was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to do it?
 
Getting more steering without some significant changes is hard on the SCXII because the servo horn will hit the panhard mount before you max out on angle of the universals or knuckles. You can grind down the panhard mount to gain a few degrees but nothing major.

Some options for more significant steering gains:

1: Convert to servo on axle and 4 link
2: Make a new panhard mount that allows for full servo travel.
3: Install front overdrive gears to reduce turning radius without changing steering throw.
 
I don't know who made this panhard but no issue with it impeding my steering. Probably a $20 fix if you actually manage to get close to it, which I do not.

Underdrive/overdrive as mentioned works geat as well.

Yeah as Hobbyjumper mentioned the SCX10.2 is already great out of the box. The best steering rig I have (SCX10.2 based) is a short wheelbase build with overdrive up front using the same angle you get out of a stock kit, it has an amazing turning radius.

So you've already got 2 good things going for you, its a SCX10.2 and a short wheelbase. Drive it first then see if you need anything, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

After that if you still want more you could clearance the axles to allow more angle or just pick up SSD's new universals which offer 50* of steering then get your steering links and panhard to cooperate (not rub or interfere), And or overdrive the front. Though Hot Racing is the only option for overdriving the diff but I've yet to shred mine so maybe it worth the risk.

The guys I compete against have modified their steering to the point that it looks like a drift car and I wanted to get mine to that point also which is why I asked. I didn't need that Hot Racing spool, I had a stock one to use. You'll only need it (or a stock one) if you dont have the stock spool on hand which it sounds like you will.

I dont think anyone makes an underdrive.

It sounds like your buddies have clearanced the Universal to get all the angle they can handle, then its just a matter of making sure the knuckle can take the angle and the links all clear
 
Should I get the SSD knuckles if I end up buying the SSD axles?

I would try the Axial universals before spending more money...

The UMG10 kit has the good universals instead of dogbones, and the good aluminum links instead of plastic. Those are the two main steering angle limitations of the SCX10ii. Get a good servo with plenty of throw and you should be able to get all the steering you need. On my rig, with the Axial universals, I get enough steering to hit the lower suspension links with my 4.45" Pitbulls. I have to limit it right before that with the End Point Adjustments.
 
I snapped these today while out crawling because I thought of this thread.

Axial universals, Incision link set, JX servo, Axial metal servo horn, slightly trimmed panhard mount. More steering than I need in both directions.
