Orange County Scale Crawling Groups?

Had a chance to meet Chris "Browneye" and a few of the guys he runs with today at CDM rocks.

Very cool people! Hope to head out to CDM more often.

Here's a section of CDM rocks that Browneye and his buddy introduced me to. When I saw it, I was like, "how in the hell?". Then he and his buddy proceeded to make it up. That was it... I had to make it up that section that day.

After many tumbles... I finally made it up several times when I got the hang of it! It's really much more impressive in person than on video. The video doesn't really show the correct perspective of how impressive making it up that section really is.

One wrong placement of the rear driver's side tire completely ruins the climb and results in a tumble.

The first time I saw it a girl was driving a rig up there and I would have bet it wouldn't make it. Drove it right through!
There have been a lot of those - it's all about the right line.

Looks like you've got it nailed! 8)

thanks for the video i havent been there in almost 30 years we used to have bonfires on the beach there when we were kids

i rember checking out the lifegaurd towers with my girlfreind lol doing what kids do ill have to go back some day with my crawlers

i was wondering if any of you oc guys grew up in the el toro mission potato area

Anyone hit the trails lately. I’m from the Yorba Linda area

Now that it's cooled off and the beach-goers are doing something else, the parking lot opens up at Corona Del Mar Beach. The rocks at the west end near the channel into Newport harbor are nearly famous, certainly in the RC crawler world. There are always crawlers there you can join in with. We try to go most weekends.

El Modina Open Space is a nice if not strenuous trail that climbs up to the top with great views and fun challenges for tiny trucks. It's just north of the Orange Hill Restaurant on east Chapman - go north or south on N. Cannon Street, park at the north end in the first housing sub near the trailhead, hike to the top. The trail is about a mile and a half.

As we keep mentioning here, the entire crawling scene with clubs and events is put up on facebook. Unfortunately there are as many that are not on the site as those that are, but that's where it's gone. Search for rc clubs and events, there is always something going on.

CDM has been real nice since it has cooled off, way less people. Usually there 4-5x a week around 6-7p. Parking is discounted now!

Hi guys! Happened across this thread while searching for places to crawl. Been into RC for quite a while but just received my first scale crawler today - the new Traxxas TRX-6 G63 6x6. Excited to try it in places other than my backyard and driveway.

I will probably be checking out Corona Del Mar Saturday (today, technically - I gotta get to bed lol) and/or Sunday. Post up if you guys will be out there I'd love to say hi and have someone to drive with.

I'm local - live in Huntington Beach and work in Irvine.

Pretty sure those are the guys that were there when I was there. I drove with them a little but they had a big party so I found my own corner and let them be.

I'll start posting the local club events here. Bring them over from FB. ;-)

We were at CDM beach today, but by boat. Went by and waved. :lmao:
The ocean was nearly glass. 8)

I'm in Fullerton and would like to get back in to crawling and pull the Ascender off the shelf. Following this if something gets organized.

Wow, that got a lot of traction, eh?? LOL

Corona Del Mar rocks...
Evidently some recent group event the participants left a lot of trash around, so now the city is saying no group events there. You can still go run your trucks, just no club events anymore.
