Fake holmes hobbies motors?

I unfortunately ended up with a fake, wasn't cheap, wasn't from China either, reported the seller, they refunded me very quickly when I told them they are selling a fake and have been reported.
Cheeky [insert your own word here] even asked me to leave them positive feedback.... NOPE!

Sorry to see this happening. We had a little rash of motors burning out and it turns out they are all fakes. Report them, file a claim, make the sellers eat the sale. Gonna be hard to stop them, but education and using trusted vendors is the best route.

Agreed, always push it back to the vendor in case of fakes.

I don't know, but just buy from a reputable vendor and you'll get a real Holmes motor.

I buy from eBay all the time, but I buy from places I've used in the past and trust or places that also have legitimate stores outside of eBay.

X2, exactly why I'm very careful where I buy from, too many copies and unreliable sellers on Ebay, Amazon, etc. Don't just buy the cheapest, I've had missing parts, very slow shipping, pita returns etc, I'll pay a bit more to the sellers that always have good parts, fast shipping and easy to deal with in the event something is damaged or missing. "thumbsup"

Good for you, calling them and not leaving good feedback, helps everyone else. :) I've bought several NOS items from Ebay lately (sellers seemed good and had 100% feedback) but when arrived the items were fake or just plain piss poor condition, returned them all. One guy knew and immediately refunded, didn't even want the product back, course it would be returned on his dime. :ror:

Yeah, if someone could post a pic of the current legit packaging as well, that would be good. I don't have mine anymore.

They have bumped up their game and done a great job of copying the packing, down to including stickers and everything.

The best bet is to just use known vendors and don't buy from china unless its direct from RCmart or asiatees. I assume they aren't the ones knocking us off, although the SKU on the fakes is what RC mart is using on theirs.

On the upside, at least they know we are so consistent with putting 2 stickers in every package that you still got two HH stickers with the fakes, lol!

Well maybe my idea to check SKU's is no good, sorry.

I guess the next one Ill buy direct from HH so I dont have to worry about it. The one I have know does have the bearing though thanks goodness.

no worries i know rpp has been around along time and i realy dought they would sell fakes

there wasent much of a price differance and i though maybe homes makes more $ from his site then theres and i know its real at that point

the recipt i got had the 11100010010010100 skw too so but it could be just a crawlmaster # applyed to the fake trailmaster or maybe they both models use that # i dont know

Ran out to the shop to check my 2 trailmaster 550s, both had bearings. Last crawlmaster 540 I got came from a main so I trusted it but checked it anyway. Got a crawlmaster 550 on the way from NZ hobbies on ebay, and I hope it's real. They had good feedback and a ton of orders. Fingers crossed.

I know comes off as a bit of an ass-hat, but this is what happens when everybody tries to get the cheapest parts possible. Counterfeits start popping up and people wonder why their hot deal is cheap shit. Also, buy the damn motor from an LHS or reputable online establishment, support the companies in and around the hobby, and there won't be demand for counterfeits in the first place.

I'm not saying that people shouldn't shop around a little or whatnot, but I have to explain to far too many people why my store cannot price-match to Amazon and Ebay. (Current favorite is $85 for an Ebay Super Rock Rey)

NZ Hobbies is local to me. He's a good dude. He won't sell you counterfeit parts.
