With all the Brushless motors we are seeing now. How come we haven't many in runners? I would think in runners would be a better choice for us crawlers. Specially Clods.

This may be a useable annalogy.
Think of a screwdriver.
to turn a screw fast, you can grab the shaft of the screwdriver and spin it between fingers and thumb. the downside it that if the screw is a little stuck, you can't twist it out because you can't make any torque. like an inrunner.
but to get a screw started and to get it past a sticky spot, you grab the handle. the rotating piece is further away from the axis, you turn the screw slower, but with more power. like an outrunner.

not to say that a 540 can sized innrunner can't have the same torque as a 380 sized outrunner. I don't know if that would be true, but a 540 inny vs. a 540 outty, the outty will out muscle it.
