K5 Blazer Build

You need More flex out of that K5 My 74 3/4 ton chevy has more than that.

I doubt it. As I mentioned in the posts above, we did some more that isn't pictured. I can lift a corner 60+ inches before a second wheel comes off the ground also...good enough for what I need it to do.

Also, we were lifting it in the shop with customer cars around so we didn't flex it all the way, we were just checking clearances for the oil pan and measuring for drive shaft length.

here is my truck

put a cage in yours and you will loose that body flex then you will be in the same boat. ;-)

Speaking of that, Jay, next time I am down at the shop we'll have to take it out in the parking lot and flex it up for some poser shots. "thumbsup"

Everyone, meet Jayson, he works at the shop where my 1:1 rig is being worked on. http://www.PacificFab.net

a zero rate is an add a leaf and basically scoots the axle forward or backward 1 or 1.5 inches or you can leave it in the stock location for a 1 inch lift. what it does is move the tires out of the firewall on full stuff. helps approach angle and shaft angles too, a little bit. it is a 1 inch block basically that bolts to the leaf pack but doesnt add any rate to the springs ie "zero rate." i used one on my truck to scoot my rear axle backward after a shackle flip, you can see it here, above the shim:

ok thanks Matt. anyway it really doesnt move the axle forward or backwards right? just rotates them to get better dla(drive line angle) correct?

no doubt.but i guess he has the wedged in there

LIKE A HAIR IN A BISCUIT.

Hi and its JASON.

And the site is www.pacificfab.net "thumbsup"

ok i was thinking, never seen it spelled like that.i will check out the site.

if he did it right and put center pins down through all those blocks, he wont have to worry about an accident happening, only time when a block on the axle poses a threat is when its on the front axle of a vehicle, they tend to "pop" out of place when brake pressure is applied with big tires and a lift

I would do the zero rate spring thing but it is illeagle here and my truck is barely street leagle as is. and i havent decided about a roll cage yet. as far as the front suspention im going to do a coil over conversion.

zero rate illeagal?? Never heard that, but if you say so.

Clodstall, the zero rate gives you the option of moving your axle forward or backwards: 0", 1", or 1.5"

There are multiple holes countersunk into the steel that allow the centering pin of the spring pack to be located where you want it when you bolt it to the zero rate, and then you put a shorter centering pin through the zero only and it sits inside the spring perch centering hole.

My truck runs a zero rate in the rear, with the axle moved 1.5" back. It also has a 2.5" shackle flip, and skyjacker 4" lift spring pack.

The front axle was moved forward 1.5" by re-drilling the centering hole on the spring perch on the D60, and in runs a 6" spring pack with 4" shackles.

I know, confusing, but it works. I won't go into what Jason and Kevin have had to do to get the doubler and crossover BTA steering all clearanced!!
