Heyoo, been a good 10 years since I was here but I'm back in the hobby and fancy building up a crawler out of the clod axles I have sitting around. Has anyone printed a decent chassis? I've found a couple on thingiverse but thinking I may design my own.
Intrigued to know if anyone has had any success and if so what sort of design are you using?

Cheers!

I made up a sort of twin vertical plate chassis for a 2WD build. I was just messing around but I think you can come up with something sturdy enough provided the design accounts for it.

I'll just say definitely design your own if you can. A lot of designs out there aren't exactly what you may want and some folks dont design things to be durable.

Heres a link to a little thread on my project: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/non-crawler-rcs/605987-drift-truck-old-rtr-bits-3d-printing.html

The first version was kind of shit, made from PLA which isnt the best IMHO (PETG is preferred). The second version starts on post 14 and it was definitely executed better.

Thanks for the reply! That shape in post 14 is pretty much exactly the sort of shape I'm aiming for, but probably with slightly smaller holes in the centre to try and add as much strength as possible. How did it hold up? It looks great!

Its held up okay for the use its had which isnt a ton, I think I only ran it 2-3 times.

Its more of a basher than a crawler so all it sees is roll overs which it took in stride.
