Since crawling has gained a lot of interest in the last couple years the one thing that always pops up is body "scale". How is this looked at? Is there a real basis that bodies are judged on?

I'd say NO. I dug up a 1/10 scale body of mine from the '80s, it doesn't even compare to any of the "1/10 scale" bodies of today. Why is that?

So.... I ask you all, can you spot the real 1/10 scale body in this picture?

That "pink thingy" is a Chevy S-10!! The grill, mirrors, wipers, sport wing and other parts come off..... although I don't dare try to remove as they'll break and never be found again! I have the mirrors in a secret box though.

Here is a few of them placed on top of my scale rig.....

Toyota Tundra body....
Bug body...
Old school S-10 body....

Sorry about the images.... I suck with the wifes camera!

The rainbow Novak sticker and paint color really date that body.

I have a bag full of old school Novak stickers. I love them... but hate to waste them on bodies that'll get trashed. I have many more '80s-early '90s stickers. The Hyperdrive stickers are the best too!!

I'd guess that the FJ is really 1/10 scale. I have an original Tamiya F150 body (similar to the Blackfoot body) that came with my Rough RiderSand Scorcher chassis, it's 1/10 scale and is nowhere near the size of any of those except maybe the FJ.

The CJ is closer to 1:8 scale I think.

I don't know what's up with the S10, that thing is huge!!

There is no way that S-10 is 1/10 scale...My guess is the FJ and Bug are close...That S-10 looks at least 1/8th scale.

Another example: Tamiya 3-Speeds

1981 Toyota Hi-Lux Pickup (shortbed): 103" WB
1981 Tamiya Hi-Lux Pickup: 11.25" WB
Scale: 1:9.1

2006 Ford F350 (2-door): 137" WB
2006 Tamiya F350 2-door: 11" WB
Scale: 1:12.5
