1/18 Nylint Battery Alternative.

So I had a New still in the box 1/18 Nylint jeep, and I had never opened it before today. Well The charger is from England, which has the different 240V plug.

Long story short, I bought the adapter to switch it from foreign to domestic. Let it charge for 6 hours, and when I went to run the Truck it moved and died. Repeated charge for 6 hours overnight, same story this morning.

I tried going to Radioshack to buy a new charger and/or battery, but couldn't find one. My question : the battery dead, or the Charger?

What are some alternatives? I posted this in the Noob Section, because I figured it was a "Noob Question" thats why I didn't post in the Electronics.

I have searched, searched, and searched and nothing so far.

Any help or advice would be greatly Appreciated. Thank you!

Well when first charging a "new" battery it should be for 9hrs I believe, and then 6hrs every time after that. If its been in the box so long and never used it could have gone bad. I also remember something about a lot of bad chargers.

Hey thanks a lot! I needed some insight.

My father just said the same exact thing. It is a good possibility that it may have gone bad. So what are my Alternatives? what can I do to get it up and running again? Switch it over to HG Electronics? And I can still run the stock axles correct?

Do a search for nylint under general crawlers. Everything you need to know is stored away in there.

For instance my build is "rnd 3 here we go agian" and rnd 2. This forum used to have a nylint section, and it was more popular than alot of other threads, don't know why they got rid of it. Anyways, I believe all the old info is still here, its just way back in the general crawlers thread.

For somequick info though.

You NEED to mod your axles to make them last. I can tell you how to bullet proof them, but its abit of work. Or do a search for the "getbent" nylint axle mod. That mod is a start, but there are easier and stronger ways.

Also you can run any 6 or 7 cell pack in the nylint. It will run on an 8 cell pack but not for long.

Here is a pix of my nylint, just to show you the potential of them. They are even capable of winning a 2.2 comp!!

Stock nylint, and 2.2 comp nylint

And my final 2.2 nylint, with reedy mod motors, and air inflatable mashers.

Just to show you the potential of a nylint. They can be a blast just stock though!!!!

If I were to do it all agian, I would just throw some sticky 1.9 mud slingers on a stock nylint with hg electrics, and a 8 cell battery!!!!!

Mounting a 6 or 7 cell pack might be a problem though, without interfering with your crawling capabilities.

And just think, all you wanted was some info about batteries!

"thumbsup" Thanks I've only Read just about everything in the Search like 90+ times! and saved it all. I have read and seen your build many a time.

Try typing it what I am asking, and nothing will show. I am not the one who posts without searching.

I am asking where or what I can get to replace the OE Charger. Every radioshack near me employs morons. they keep everything behind the counter, i.e. chargers. and wont let me go back there so i have to look over the lame ass counter and point. I was fed up and left.

That said. I was asking what people did for an alternative charger, or will any 9v charger work? and if my 1500mah from my HG buggy would work?

p.s. Thanks for the pictures. I have seen a few before. Thanks now I am going to try my 1500 mah?

On my son's 1:18 Nylint I use the stock battery pack.I put Dean's plugs on it and charge it on my Intellipeak charger.I have never used the Nylint charger on it.
