1/43 SSMT 91' 4Runner build

Seeing all the 4Runner builds lately made me want to build my own. But I wanted something a little smaller that I would be able to mess with inside the house.

For the body, tires, and chassis I'm using a 1/24 aoshima model. I'm really impressed how detailed everything is. The axles will be from a 1/43 SSMT which I'm still waiting on. The only thing that I've really been able to do so far is mount the steering servo.

The things that I have planned for it are;

Full exo
Roof rack or tailgate rack
Quarter elliptical leaf setup
HS-85BB tranny setup

Hopefull I'll be able to accomplish everything on my list. Tell me what you guys think!

I think I finally got some axles, and hopefully the guy shipped them today. I got a killer deal to, 15.00 bucks for a complete truck that was ran maybe three times inside .

What are you going to use for a reciever & ESC?

For a receiver I'm going to be using this. I use it in my tlt and it's very small and light.

For a esc, nothing. I'm going to run everything off the receiver and use a receiver pack for the power supply.

I made a some progress over the past couple days. My LEDs came in yesterday so I was able to wire everything up. In the meantime I machined up this little light bar. I think it came out pretty good if you ask me. Unfortunately though, I wasn't able to mount it along with the headlights because the body isn't painted yet. On to the single picture !

yes all he is running is two servos. no real motor. this will be drove by a servo. itll be like a clod with four wheel steering even if u have no battery pluged into the esc as long as u have good bateries in ur reciver pack you can still steer except hes running his rear steer servo as the drive

For your "servo-transmission" you're leaving the servo circuit board intact (which in turn acts as the esc).

You may need to do some slight re-wiring of the board however, to eliminate the servo's "pots" so it will rotate 360 degrees +, and be able to still stop at center.

And are you seriously using a 6 channel Spectrum reciever in this thing, TylerV? Seems like a bit of an overkill for a small indoor crawler.

I figured why not, I've already got the radio, the receiver is extremely small, and it's never going to glitch. Plus I might throw in dig steering for the heck of it . I don't know how usefull it would be but what the heck, if you can do it, why not. Or I'll put a winch on, which is much more practical.

if your thinking for extra crap to use those channels for, make the doors and such automated, maybee the tail gate, or the hood. Of course, none of thise is nesecary, cool project.:mrgreen:

Oh ya, I know. I used a modified servo board as an ESC in my 1/25 scale Micro-Jeep build-up some months back.

Well guys here's a little update. About a month ago I aquired one complete SSMT and another one that was just missing a shock. I then moved to another state. By the time I got settled (which is right about now), I had lost interest in this build. Part of the reason I lost interest is because I bought a Blade CP Helicopter and took up flying. Long story short, I'm ending this build and my SSMT's are going. They are for sale or trade. For trades I'm interested in TLT stuff. PM me with your offers.

Just letting everyone know that I have one complete ssmt, and another set of axles with aoshima tsl's glued to the rims, and random parts from the tear down available. The axles have been modified and are ready for a leaf setup. PM me if you want pics.

It's too bad you're bailing out on this build, TylerV. The SSMT crawlers are a lot of fun once they're done.

I know how distracting helicopters can be though......... .....I have a Blade CP (soon to be belt drive..), and an Aplus 300.
