1/7 scale Traxxas

you guys calling BR and Yeti TT 1/10 scale are on crack.

Traxxas UDR 1/7.5 scale
BR 1/8.5 scale
Yeti TT 1/8.8 scale

Honestly I don't even think that scale matters these days. Especially in terms of what the manufacturers say about a particular vehicle.

IDK about others, but personally I define scale based on the parts it uses and I think that is generally what people intend it to mean these days.

1/8: 40-44mm Bl motor and matching ESC, 4S minimum, 17mm wheel hexes
1/10: 540 or 550 size motor and matching ESC, 3S max (usually), 12mm wheel hexes

For example, I only own "1/8" vehicles. Kyosho considers the Scorpion XXL to be 1/7, IMO its a 1/8 because the motor, ESC, batteries, and wheels/tires are compatible with my other 1/8 RCs. Similarly, the Yeti XL is 1/8 becuase it uses parts typically considered to be 1/8 despite being huge compared to most 1/8 vehicles.

This UDR from Traxxas will likely be more successful than the Losi because its sized to use 1/8 components. The stock wheels use 17mm hexes and the tires are almost exactly the same size as a Truggy.

That's just someone's opinion. IMO a little healthy competition never hurt anything. [emoji41]

I don’t see how this truck is competing with anything from axial. Yes it is a Baja truck like the yeti score, but it’s still a lot bigger in pretty much every aspect of it.

So I take it the slash 2wd is competing with the hpi Baja 5sc?

So, it's pretty obvious EVERYONE is preferring the new Traxxas UDR over the Super Baja Rey. I wonder if that will force Losi to move on the price point? Man - I bet Losi is just kicking themselves right now for not focusing more on scale appearance.

Hmm not entirely true I'd have to say, quite a lot of the other people including me on the FB group prefer the Losi. But yes the Traxxas does seem to be a bit more popular. Peace.

While Traxxas did an all night "Tea Bag" session with Losi in the "Scale" aspect, there is no way i would spend my $$ on an "Inverted" chassis.

Just my .02

True the Traxxas seems to be more scale like, I actually quite like that aspect about it. Thumbs up for them!

Inverted chassis??

From the pics i have seen everything is hanging from the ceiling and a plastic cover as your skid protecting the motor, diff, RX box etc. Take your normal tub or pan chassis with everything bolted down and turn it upside down. Could be wrong though.

Actually wouldn't that sort of lower the CG overall since everything is down lower than the traditional setup?

Honestly, I think I would prefer that over the traditional plate style layout........

And not only because that might offer a lower CG, smoother belly with fewer screw heads to clean out before removing too, it will also make the mechanicals easier to access in comparison to say the Wraiths, Yetis, and Bomber, since the cage won't be in the way if you need to get at those items"thumbsup"

Just in the market overall with these style trucks.

Someone decides to buy this over an Axial Score = competition

I don't get that impression at all.

I think it's a cool design and it looks like this will make maintenance so much easier.

The inverted chassis is a big plus and solves one of the major downers of working on an original baja rey.

yep maintenance access.
i wouldnt have minded a losi aluminum chassis plate design, but with all the cage work, you cant beat Traxxas's design for ease of access. just ask Harley about the Twin hammers....

And help chassis rigidity by getting the "shear panel" further up, closer to the center. As a scratch builder see it here, very well planned out. AND, you have a platform to mount your fpv camera. Thats the other cool thing about its size. Room for fpv.

Traxxas next to who??? :lmao:

I think the Traxxas will be very close in size to the Losi 1/6th scale Super Baja Rey. The Traxxas is slightly smaller for sure.

they claim the super Baja rey is 7 lbs heavier than the traxxas ud4.

so id imagine with the super Baja rey weighing in at 20 lbs or so it will be a couple inches wider and longer.

ps: traxxas will not kill axial. lol
