1/8 Truggy going to Crawler

Yay, got it done.

Added:

- Front dig and rear dig
- Varible front and rear drive (meaning I can control the spin on front and rear wheels.
- Put in a second stage of gear got it down to 15-1... work great... this thing is so slow!

I'm trying to figure out how the front and rear dig are going to work. In know you have brakes at the out drives, does the servo disconnect the drive shaft then actuate the brake? And when you say Variable front and rear drive, do you mean you can run the front at lets say 100% and the rear at 70%? How fast can it go? Crawling slow is good, but sometimes wheel speed comes in handy ;). Awesome work so far. This wheel, tire combo might work out good for you post #29: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=166037&page=2

"So, I am new to this, have no idea what I am doing half of the time..."

Ha! Don't be moddest man the extent of mods you are doing to your truggy is extensive. Most people new to crawling do even know what a dig is let a lone know how to build one. I think your doing a great job. Nice fab work too. I take it you've been around the rc hobby for awhile?
Good job! "thumbsup"

the truggy has a center diff that is not locked with adding the breaks back on he can lock up the rear and still drive the front with a heavy enough oil in the center you can get that action something like 800,000 wt.

Hey P1cho,

It's pretty close to what Smokin said, this truggy has center differential. So I tune the differential fair enough that it will drive 4 wheel at all time IF at least one of the front or the rear wheel got traction.

So I run two servo on each of the break as shown in the picture, then I do a mix in my Radio. When I want more power to the front, I slow down or completely lock the rear using the break. It work really well with the G-10 as the break pad. The other way around when I want rear to spin faster.

Legion1, I have only got into Rock Crawling about 1 month. :) However, I have been in RC Hobby for quite a long time, mostly Helicopter. Learn most of the stuff from one of my buddy "Jason".

:D

- So we have a little competition this morning, I screw up pretty bad with the MRC.... :D I did got the chance to test out the Super, this thing is to freaken wideeee... It would go on the outside of the gate.. :)

- Need to work on the RIMS asap to narrow down the width of this thing.

- Yup, forgot the video camera today, oh well, I will get a good video once I work out all the bugs.

Other than the width issue (he could barely fit through the super gates!!) this thing crawled like a mothertrucker... Needs more weight in the wheels, but its tip over is pretty scary steep. Looks like a big spider out on the rocks just hanging on... It does sound like a hoover vacuum now with that 15:1 gearbox he made, that outrunner motor is spinning quick when he's out on the flat land speeding around (if you call 4mph speeding!)

He ran it on all kinds of obstacles and didn't break it, that G10 is some strong stuff. Steering servo's could use a little more Ooompf with those big tires now, but she sure does creep around good. It got a lot of attention, thats for sure... some were calling it "square" cause I think its as wide as it is long right now... lol

Alright!

To fix the width I modify the rim by removing the stock spoke and replace it with a new plate, picture below.

Use to be 18.5inches wide from tire-tire wall. Now? 15.2 (I think this is great). I do like how it behave being wide, it hang on it side like Spider Man. But the issue was it get bottom out to much over little rocks. So with this width it should be perfect. With the new rims I can screw on my Fishing weight and as many as I want... :)

Each will give me 1oz, right now I am running 6oz in each front, but I think I'm going for 8 or 10 or maybe even 12.

Holy cow... 1/4 g10 is insanely tuff... broke like 5 bit... ouch eeee...

I get it now. Thanks for the insight.

Need a camera man....

Well, since you ask, cell phone quality, sorry guys. It's quite hard to video and drive at the same time with stick radio.

The sad part is that my phone only do 30second of video and it stop, so... got to make it quick. I will try to get a better video after this weekend.

I will have to go up a tooth on the motor, need to get a little more wheel speed.

:D

Well, I have just confirmed I am not so artistic, should have waited for the buddy to paint this thing. This is the best I can come up with. :)

Now I learned that Blue and Black do not go well with each other.... lol.

the single coolest super I have seen great truck and where can I get one:ror:"thumbsup"

:) It would take about 30hours of work and a couple of hair pulling to get one of this.

Thanks for the kind word guys, maybe I am just spoiled by some of the paint job a buddy of mine has painted for me. I am good with hand tool and stuff, but when it come to color chart, I am color blind.

Well, didn't get out the house today to get to the real rock, but manage to get another short video with some of the rock in the backyard. The video quality is a little better this time.
