I have done some short testing on these tires and they are nite and day compared to stock.. and dont a LOT of the guys that run these on their 1:1 rigs cut'em up as well?? I tend to see a lot of them modded.

so heres what I did to mine and they work good now for hard dirt/mud with roots hill climbs. and i have the pumpkin clearance i want vs. the TSL sx.

tell me what you think..as far as how they LOOK. i think they look pretty good cut up!!"thumbsup"
and i still plan to just remove every other small lug from both sides around the whole tire...then... maybe even more siping!
pretty much just cut the small lugs at an angle towards the center, they are cut in half almost, then siping then at an angle as well.. this helps the tire not fold over while turning and great for side hilling! also put deeper crosses in the side tread.

Looks good "thumbsup" I have seen them with the whole lug cut out before but not the way you did it! Have you done a test yet in dirt and or mud to see how they perform? If so please post an update!

That looks sweet I just ordered some and I was going to cut all the small lugs but now I'm copying yours

Re: 1.9 bogger lets see your modded boggers-- my idea on "functional Boggerz"

Sweet! But why no siping on the large lugs?

hey thanks for the comments everyone... and no siping YET on the large lugs..few reasons, these tires get BETTER with time and since I just started testing them I would rather wait until I know it needs it b4 chopping them to hell... good question tho thanks!"thumbsup"

I have done some testing and I will take some video also. today maybe.
man do these hook up or what!! you know what, I like these better than the TSL's I had on, they bite ALMOST as good but for lack there i make up in ground clearasnce for sure, makes my jeep look super mean and they do work, some spots they do BETTER like in steep loose climbs with roots and such they exel well"thumbsup"
I would def sugest doing this to your boggers and give it a shot you will like it, they still look like boggers, and work good and if you DONT like it you can always do more cutting,

I used a diamond cutting wheel on a dremmel, the small one with the holes through it. they work really well for this and its hard to go to deep, you have to really fudge up, when you reach the bottom of the tread it just simply stops unless you force it im sure:mrgreen:

lets see some work and pics from your modded
boggers now please!! thanks much"thumbsup"

My artsy shot...

One beside the other, siping to come

So far I've just used Lexan scissors. You have to bend the heck out of the tire to get a good cut.

I was holding off posting cause I wanted to sipe them, finally did using lexan scissors. Problem is they just make thin cuts and don't take any material out.

I was waiting to buy a diamond cutoff wheel for the Dremmel but they're over $30, so in despiration (and on the advise from a fellow Canadian on durhamrc.com) I tried a crappy cheap-o cutoff wheel. It seems to work ok, I've only done a few test sipes. Not the prettiest but maybe if I has used the wheel before I had cut the sipes it would cut better.
This is the flex I'm getting on rocks now:

They ain't no Pitties but much better than before the lugs were cut out.

I took the foams out of 2 tires and am going to compare, switching backs to fronts and see. Those Boggers have such a stiff sidewall, maybe running without will help flex over the rocks? Who knows. Anybody tried this?
Also I have 8 oz weight in each wheel, maybe a bit much for an SCX scaler but the wheels and tires came with that much weight in em and I like weight so I'll leave it for now.

Lots of people slag Boggers, they say good in mud, dirt and grass, bad on rocks. Since I'm not waterproof I don't do too much mud, but I'm gonna try and make them better on the rocks. Either that or join the pack and buy those amazing Pitbulls.
But Boggers just look so damned good!!!

I removed the small lugs like 4WDwannabe shortly after getting them and it was night and day. They hook up everywhere. I have heard several peeps say how stiff the sidewalls are but I have never felt this way. Of course my rig is over 11lb.s, but I think the sidewalls are very pliable, much softer and grippier than IROKs. They look awesome and I always come back to them over the IROKs/Rok Lox on my 1.9 C2 truck. Rock dirt grit these tires are great.

got every other lug cut from my boggers aswell and they really hook up on the dirt hillclimbs my club love to play on and arent half bad on the rocks"thumbsup"

So I siped my Boggers and tried them out this weekend at the Butterball Trail Halloween last bash of Summer, through Hurricane Sandy. Had about 20 guys out, hardcore!

They look better without the rubber dust on em. And do this outside, basically burning rubber blowing in yer face. That's fine if you're an ex-drag racer, but not everyone gets a flashback to 80 cars drag racing on hwy 400at 3 am when the rubber smoke hits the nasal cavities."thumbsup"
They work MUCH better than stock. The sidewall softens up, the siping grips rock better and with the small lugs gone, cuts through mud pretty good. And I was happy......
......then I put my buddy's 1.9 Pitbulls on.... BIG mistake!!
These newfangled Pitties are the cat's ass! They conform to rock better(way softer sidewalls and compound), especially wet rock which the stock Boggers totally sucked at. Real bad. Much better when cut and siped but the Pitties still out shone them. You do lose 1/4 of an inch height, but still.
Now not to say I'm going to rush out and buy a set tomorrow. My buddys did say "Buy it and win" about the PBs so automatically I say screw that! Too easy! In good mud I think the Boggers would rule (I'm not waterproof, so I haven't tested that theory), and they are a good all around tire with that cool, unique look, and cut and/or siped they are a really good tire! So I still like them. But I did get a chance to see into the Dark Side. And me likey!!

If I ever get a set of boggers again, I will have to try your method out axialjeepster! Sure miss the look and clearance of boggers!!

While I agree the stock Bogger does look the cat's ass, the cut one looks pretty sharp too, better than Traxxas's Grave Digger monster truck tire they came out with, for sure. Never liked that one and it's sort of similar with it's tractor-like tread.
Tho I broke down and ordered a set of Pitbulls. Just couldn't help myself.:flipoff:

Took me a couple of hours to cut the lugs and 30-40 minutes to sipe with the Dremmel. I believe I was "watching" a chick flick with my wife at the time. Got some important RC work done and brownie points too LoL.
You want to get the messy dremmeling done quickly, and do it outside.
