I know there is a wealth of knowledge here so feel me in. I have did a lot of googling and learned a bunch but I bet you guys know something I haven't found.

I bought a 1980 Datsun off of a local Facebook garage sale page for $400. Everyone who sees it says, "Hey, cool a Datsun 210." It has a 210 emblem on the trunk but the registration is for a B310. Are they the same thing or did someone put the wrong emblem on it.

These are the pics the owner sent me.

A few details:
250,000 some odd miles
Some rust on doors
Electric fan wired to switch
Radio bolted to transmission tunnel (Now installed in dash)
2 new front tires
Front seats duct tape with seat covers
No dome light (Wired up an led pod)
Dash lights didn't work (Came on when I fixed the dome light)
AC doesn't work
Locks were sticky (WD40 fixed)
Small oil leak (Looks to be the oil filter)
Runs and drives good.

I washed it, took the cracked window guards off, and added some stickers and this is how it looks.

So what do ya'll think? What should I know?

Very some of those cool mirrors go on the fenders, get some over fender flares, drop it, wide wheels and tires... drive it till it falls to pieces.

Drop it, boost it, drift it. "thumbsup"

Something like this?

Pretty cool, take the stickers back off

No way! They added 15 hp.

Take it off any sweet jumps yet?

No but I did find this on the google.

I do like those mirrors.

The 210 was done in 1977 and the 310 took over after that for a few years.

The only cool Datsuns were the 510 and 240Z. :flipoff:

I saw that. Wonder what is up with the 210 emblem on the trunk. What about the 350Z?

I really don't want to spend a lot of money on it. I'm thinking spray paint the rust, spray paint the wheels, and shine up the beauty rings.

Nice find, the fastback version ( blue drifter above) is much more sought after than the coupe but its still a great car. With the 5 speed trans and the A15 they are a great drive.. I looked for one of the fastbacks for a while as a shop build but had no luck so ended up putting it on the back burner.....

Anyway in 1980 the 310 was pretty much standard here in the states and was basically the "luxury" version of the 210 with more options and a few new updated systems the biggest being the suspension. It should have 4 link rear and front struts, the older models had rear leafs and shock spring fronts...

I learned to drive on a john deere model N. Later I learned to DRIVE in a 74 datsun 620, 71 datsun 110 with an l14 out of my brothers rolled 73ish 210. I made (what I didn't know at the time) a big drift track in the field. The 110 was a rocket, I had so much fun in that car when I got my license!

Personally I'd dump it in the weeds and slap some Craigslist special wheels on it and just cruise.

Like that, though the rally version looks better.

Yeah, too bad there isn't much of a rally scene in Alabama.

Yeah, the fast back is cooler but I just lucked up on this one and the price was right. It does have the 4 link rear.

I would love to do that but from what I've researched so far that would cost more than the car is worth.

Since I bought it Thursday it has been my daily driver. Its fun to drive and a lot cheaper on gas than my Silverado. Looks like the plan for now is to go for the JDM rat rod look and drive it.

So far I have painted the grill and headlight trim flat black as well as blacking out the area between the tail lights. I also took the ugly side molding off and replaced it with a black stripe. Up next is shining up the trim rings and painting the wheels.

My Mom had a 74 Datsun pickup that was Camaro Yellow with black stripes and had aluminum mag rims and a GT aluminum camper shell, with the old school hand cranked smoked bubbled windows and had a three way roof vent, I learned how drive a stick in it, and then later on my sister bought a 70's something Datsun 510, and she put it one of Pioneers early cassette decks with some old school Pioneer 6x9's in the back deck and some 6'' Pioneer speakers in front kicker panels, it rocked for what it was and me beening in junior high, I was just starting to get into music and bands and buying used records and cassettes at garage sales, so we would drive around rocking out, hitting the neighborhood garage sales and adding too are collections, it was one of the few times me and sister didn't hate each other growning up. Now I can't stand the XXXXXXX XXXXX and don't talk to her.
