1st scale video, 1/6th scale Willys

Ok guys, this is my first ever attempt at posting a vid, so I have a lot to learn, but I'm trying! :mrgreen:

Here's ( hopefully) a vid that I shot today with a GoPro Hero camera and my 1/6th scale Willys Jeep. I struggled with the editing software, I couldn't get any tunes from my iTunes library to download into the video, so I'll have to work on that.

Enjoy and feel free to leave me feedback on how I can improve any aspect on the video, I'd like to get to the level of some of the guys who always provide us w/ great quality vids.

Good first video... especially if you had issues with the software. I always enjoy the on-board shots from a GoPro.



My list of "rules" when I'm serious about shooting a scale video....

1 - If you can see the lens, the camera can see you! <-- #1 for a reason!
2 - Use a tripod! Not everyone can afford a steadycam or dolly/jib setup.
3 - Angles, low is best. Not many guys shoot 1:1 videos from a helicopter.
4 - Know the route that is being taken. Scale rigs tend to allow "do-overs".
5 - Don't be afraid to get dirty! Might have to put your head on the ground to "see" the shots. It's silly but, knee pads are good!



I can't help you with the editing because I don't know how to use the Windows MovieMaker thingy. Just remember to preserve the aspect ratio, standard definition is 4:3 while HD it 16:9. When you export the video after you're done editing just make sure you keep the ratio the same.

Just remember, most on here have short attention spans so a video longer than 4-6 minutes will tend to loose an audience. Unless it's something different from the normal day to day videos being uploaded everyday.

Best way to learn the software and the camera(s) is by using them as much as you can until you feel like you understand how they will work. I've been shooting video with my iPhone4 a lot lately just to learn it's quirks.

Thanks for the reply Toyofast, I appreciate the advice. It was because of watching vids from you, Pantablo, ZoSo and a few others that got me interested enough to try shooting my own.

I can't believe how well your iPhone works as a video camera, the images are crystal clear!
