i am about to pick up one of these little things, they look like a good starter for rc crawling. i seen a bunch of guys are running 2.2s, and lots have switched to hobby grade electronics. my question is, anyone running 2.2s without upgraded electronics? would it survive? if it won't, what is the cheapest (decent) esc and reciever that could be used on these? thanks for helping out a newb

Seems no one is having any problems. I'm waiting on parts to do mine, and I'll let you know when I have mine done.

Stock steering is not going to last w/2.2's. The pins that hold the steering gears break off. If you are going w/2.2's, you will need a strong servo to even move them. I managed to fit a full size FP-S148 on the Nylint axle no problem:

& you can run the servo with your stock electronics, with a little modifying!!

& about 2 or 3 dollers in resistors. if you need more info on that let me know.

Stock electronics

2.2 rims

old stampede tires cut and reversed

cut springs (2 coils)

Bic pen mod with 1/4" aluminum rod

10" wheelbase

Width F-9 7/8" R-10"

Its not a daily driver and Im not too rough on it, but Ive had no problems....

2.2's stock electronics and steering, and only problems i have are with stripping drive gears on the axle. Got a new one and swapped the axle and haven't had any problems.

Mine turns the tires, but when the tires get lodged a bit, nope. I'll be upgrading soon. It works for now, but by no means ideal or favorable.
