My girlfriend's car. More of a Chevy person not very good with turbo's. But I got onto the interstate yesterday, gave it some gas and all of a sudden it started blowin grayish smoke which is the sign of burnin oil, so theres oil seepin into the exhaust. Well she had the turbo replaced when she bought it, sent it to a mechanic. and they said that there was oil around the turbo. I called my uncle whos a head mechanic at a used car dealership. and he said it had to do somethin with a turbo seal? not sure tho. But i got thinkin if they replaced it maybe they didnt get all the old gasket off and it didnt seat right so it's lettin oil get into the exhaust. Now does the turbo have an oil line goin to the turbo or does the turbo have oil in it all the time? What would be the part thats bad? Thanks for your help! Not very good with foreign cars

Most likely a dying turbo due to clogged turbo cooling oil pick-up line sieve/filter. (common problem)
The bearings wear out because of lack of lubrication/cooling.
The seals wear out.
Oil gets into intake air or exhaust gasses.

Check turbo for axial play on the axle.

Did your girlfriend notice blue smoke a while ago?

Garret turbo?
