2010 Camaro SS unveiled to public! pics!

Any idea what it weighs and power output?

The Camaro SS is powered by a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 putting out 422 hp and 408 lb.-ft. of torque, and in this case power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic gearbox. :x :flipoff:

What the? How is it that it went from looking really sinister and badass as a prototype to looking really, really gay as a production model? It still looks the same, but it doesn't... and I liked it better before.

The new one looks more "rounded" in shape than the original... not cool. It looks marshmallow-ey now.

welcome to the real world. 24" wheels and shaved handles and signals and cartoon like proportions always make concepts look bad ass.
give us enthusiast time. look at my camaro. with good parts, and decent taste you can make the "catfish" look bad ass(98-02 camaros)

no clue on weight, rumors are 400hp LS3, concept had 6L LS2.

I would have liked to see the exhaust dumped out in front of the rear tires. It definatly doesnt look like a hot rod thats for sure.
your an idiot:lol: for 1 exhaust dumped infront of the rear wheels is illigal on a hatchback. (does exit past the rear most of the cabin) and two, the camaro is a muscle car, NOT a hot rod. two totally different classes of cars.

I'll keep my SRT and we'll race
lol brett deal.

My biggest complaint is the grill.
my hopes is someone will release a complete coverage billet grill like they did for the old clod style 1:1 pickups. that covers the headlights and all. and if done in black could look like the old RS grill.

People I don't get your taste  that's a pretty nice car design except for all the plastic on the interior :-x and the grille could have a few less squares in it ....

STANG u r gettin one of these???? im comin to party with ya !!!!
amen, GM has always been frowned for the plastic interiors, if i wanted a nice interior id buy a bimmer or merc. i want whats under the hood. that interior is much nicer than my last 3 camaros.
yes but not sure if '10 or '11 SS. with the history of GM with the GTO and Z06

Stang, whats your thought on them being Automatics?

I figured the SS would atleast comprise of a Manual option.

You can polish a turd all you want. It's still a turd. Boo to GM for "trying". They got too much into the new ZR-1. Sorry StangKilla, not a fan.

i will wait until they release a manual SS. i dont care if the auto is faster in the 1/4 and handles more power. i will wait.

no biggy balla  im not buying it for you. im buying for the girl in your avatar

And yet Canadian pricing wont even be available until November according to a document I found on GMInfonet.

Oshawa, Ontario (Tuesday, October 14, 2008 ) – Since the day the Camaro concept model was unveiled, the most frequently asked question has been: “When can I order my new Camaro?” GM of Canada is pleased to announce that, beginning Thursday, October 16, 2008, Chevrolet dealers across the country will be able to submit customer orders for the new 2010 Camaro Coupe.

“Even before pricing in Canada has been finalized, Camaro enthusiasts are anxious to get their orders on the books,” said Marc Comeau, vice president of sales, service and marketing for GM of Canada. “The return of the Camaro and the buzz it has created are great reminders of the passion surrounding this marque and we’re confident the new, fuel-efficient 2010 Camaro will make enthusiasts out of a whole new generation of drivers as well.”

Because demand at start of production will be strong, customers who order a vehicle early will be given priority. Orders can be placed through a Chevrolet dealer who will have information regarding early ordering, vehicle packaging and specifications and this information will also be available online at http://www.camaro.gm.ca as of October 16th. Canadian pricing for the 2010 Camaro will be released in the following weeks.

Camaro production is scheduled to begin in mid-February 2009 at the award-winning Oshawa, Ontario Car Assembly Plant, with dealership deliveries beginning immediately. Complementing the Camaro’s introduction is a range of performance, appearance and convenience accessories – including 21-inch wheels and tires; ground effects, stripe kits and even a classic-styled Hurst shifter – that customers can order and have installed at their dealership.

There will also be a “Numbers-Matching” merchandising package available through Choko Motorsports which will feature several unique Camaro items – some of which will feature a personalized VIN plate corresponding to the actual serial number of the customer’s Camaro. Full details are available at http://camaroboutique.com.

I have the Camaro Initial Ordering Workbook PDF for this car up on my desktop right now. Checkin out all the options for this thing... heh.

You can see some of the car in that new Christian Slater TV show, my own worst enemy. It looks pretty good there. From what I have heard, even the V6 is pretty decent at 300hp. I believe the motor is the one from the Cady CTS? Looks OK to me, but I need to see it in person and drive it.

correct. and the camaro is 400 lbs lighter than the caddy counterpart. (v6 models)
With 2 engineers inside the car, the 300HP V6 automatic cars ran consistent 14.50s right off the street.
