2013 Chump Change

^^^ These spacers are installed, super precise fit and so light. Updated the build thread to include these...Guys have Kevin cut you your own!

how are those wheels working for you jake?

Pete, these wheels are the best man. Give Rob @ SMW some money and get the best wheels out. Cheap, outstanding machine work, and amazingly light but strong.

I broke and cracked some CF wheels, I have not even come close to any issues with these.

Don't forget to grab some CF spacers from Kevin @ KL Designs!

I just got some amazing news. My new motors will be here for ECC. Can not wait to test these out and have the best motors out there!

Well I did my usual at ECC, pretty bad all because of driving errors. Good news the more I drive the more the errors become smaller. This chassis flat out works, you just have to follow it and bam it does what you want. I couldn't be any happier, just need more time on the rocks and I know I'll feel better and be doing better.

Before ECC I had Farmer's guy modify my DLUX front weights, cuts their weight down about half.

I also spoke with Mr. Holmes at Nationals about first dibs...I'll stop typing because you know you'd rather drool. I don't have the specs of the motors exactly, but I can tell you they are outrageous. I swear if I drove over a pile of nails or screws I'd pick them up. Never had motors with magnets so strong (this includes my 20 yr racing career with rc cars, not just crawlers). Slow speed is amazing, start up is smooth enough (I made some radio adjustments and its where I like it). High speed and power, oh yeah they have that...and then some. I present you....Holmes Hobbies PULLERS!

New weight after the DLUX weights being machined and the PULLERS (3lbs 13.5oz):

So is that a steel can with an AL face?

Do you have a weight?

Last question, how are you measuring the power of the magnets?

Yes the can is steel and the face is aluminum. Total weight for the pair I have is 264.3g, my pair were built to be good on start up, be comparable to 35T's and provide amazing drag brake. They are not made to be the lightest option, I believe Farmer's pair weighed in at 261g or so.

Sadly the only measurement for magnets I have is how they react to each other. At a distance of 9" apart the motors will fly toward each other and clang together. Also when I was wiring them the needle nose holding the wire keep getting stuck to them. Neither of these 2 findings have ever happened with any other motors I've owned.

I forgot to comment on the drag brake...all of it. I have all the drag brake. Trying to spin these motors over when I got them with no pinions, yeah good luck, while you can its not easy. At ECC on the Vaterra course gate 10 was a down hill pretty easy finish. I did my normal slow front dig down and then as my back tires where almost progressed nailed full throttle. The rear tires were on a bit of a small ledge, the fronts even with the speed just burned up for a second then over powered the rear tires, but the rear tires did not slightly spin like my old br00ds would have, not a once.

I'm sold on these HH PULLERS and it seems like many other guys who were at ECC are too.

Hmmmmmm...... I think I got you beat on the weight Wooogiebear....

I got my BR00D confluxs @256g and all the power to boot ...but I still want to see them at BG this month

Wow its been a awhile, truthfully other than some tweaking nothing has changed.

Motors are still insane, crazy insane actually.

Just installed the full RCBros gear system (gears and locker). Lost another 1.55oz from that. Getting it ready for our State Comp. They are slick like teflon, quiet and super light. Worth every penny, and Will/RCBros have amazing service too.

AFTER for 1 axle (same items, just RCBros)

Wow this is in desperate need of an update. Just some updates.

The best change so far is moving to the SMW Chump AiR chassis. It's more rigid and with some tweaks to geometry over the previous Chump I was running. Additionally it is lighter as the movable shock towers of the previous design did add weight with additional hardware needed.
Also added a super cool 3D printed and Carbon Fiber reinforced SMW skid plate. Adds protection to the chassis plates, light, strong as heck, and slippery.

Now running a pair of 400 HH Puller motors, on 4S. Talk about power and light weight. They are also extremely efficient though.

RC Bros Front Tubes, but with DLux Ofna Front Axle shafts and Knuckle System. Also Barry's Carbon motor covers too. Also VP and Lunsford Ti rods for steering.

Also painted up a new body for NENC @ Rausch Creek 2015, still running that body.

Have done extremely well since making these changes. Managed 10th at NENC 2015, which was with many of the changes and the truck never touching the rocks, something I seem to do quite often. I also managed to get 3rd I believe (can't find the scoring to confirm) at the Quarrel in the Quarry (Battlegrounds free event at the end of the season). Getting better finally now with the right parts and driving the truck more.
