Guys I have crawler experience, but not in the last couple years where now we have everything you could want or dream of, so with that said, I never crawled years ago with anything other than a 27t gold can. I now have been modding a AX-10 rtr with the 27t. I've changed alot on it but the motor. What is gonna be the difference I'm gonna see between the 27t and the 55t?

Thanks

I haven't been in this hobby long but I do know that 27t faster speed, less torque(power).....55t ssslllloooowwww but lots of power/torque. I've personally have a 45t. fast as a jog, but still has plenty of torque. you can say since 27 is just under half of 55 it will be twice as slow but have twice the power. At least thats my logic

Like said above, a 55t will run quite a bit slower, and have quite a bit more torque, than a 27t. That's good for crawling. The slower speeds and more torque definitely help. I'd suggest getting a 55t for your crawler. Nice thing is if it seems too slow for you, you can always gear it for a faster speed. (or add more voltage if your esc allows)

The biggest difference is that the timing on the 55t will be at zero. If you can adjust the timing on your 27t, put it to zero and see how you like it. In a comp crawler I prefer a 35t.

If you are after super long run times, that will be the biggest benefit from the 55T motor. It will also offer nice smooth throttle at crawl speeds.

The 27T motor can offer alot of fun with it's higher rpm/volt. You wouldn't be crazy for giving it a go. My competition crawler has a Holmes Hobbies 35T Handwound in it and 11.1V LiPo.

Hey thanks for the replys! Yeah, I pretty much had the difference in the motors down, just wanted to hear what I would see out on the rocks! Thanks John for the info on the timing as that is good to know! That will make a difference. I've made a few adjustments so far as in Revo links bent 30 degree's, weighted rims, star cuts etc. I installed a Traxxas XL-5 esc and it is head and shoulders over that stocker. No throttle management with the stocker!

Griz it now climbs pretty darn good with the 27t and the XL-5, so yes the 27 can be some fun no doubt. I will go to a drag brake setup later, but right now its not making me loose sleep!

27T = way faster. Better for a rock racer or basher. I had both motors and the 55t was too slow for me. Switched to HH 7T Cobalt and get both speed and torque.
