i'm considering installing a small [1/18 scale] brushless system in my vintage buggy. i think that a small motor would look more scale in my Ultima. being an Ultima though, she has 32pitch gears... gears i'd like to avoid replacing with 48pitch...

has anyone here done anything like this?

[didn't know to post here or in Scale Rigs. apologies to a mod that moves this]

pretty much, yes. just thought it'd be easy to conceal.
that's how it started anyway. i'm liking the idea of going brushless with her though; even if a 1/18 system won't cut the mustard.

one of those 8000kV Mambas that my nephews won't STFU about (grrr)... really won't push a 2wd 1/10?
i'm aiming for scale speed, not competition.

If you want scale speed that will work with the current reduction, look to a little outrunner motor. It is slow, and makes up for the lack of rpm with torque. Little 380 outrunners are tiny, and would work with a mamba 25. If you are wanting to romp through grass and such, a park 400 would be a good choice.

I believe both the 380 and 400 do. I also have GWS motors that are the same size as the park 450's, but super cheap. They are under $30.
