I have been working on this on and off for what seems like forever. I love driving friends shafty rigs for kicks and can't wait to get this finished up. The chassis is a hand cut BJV4 style shafty. The axles are AX10 with long beef tubes, XR shafts, C's, lockouts, and knuckles. On the trans is a CF motorplate I made for the 454 motor. But I have a BWD plate for a 540 motor as well.
The chassis sits forward a bit. The rear axle has an Underground Crawlers D-Link upper link mount. I cut the posts down so that it sits flush on top of the pumpkin.
I copied Chris the Battery Man and clearanced the universals for more steering angle. With the long tubes the axle is almost Identical width to my XR. It sits at 11.25" wide in the front and 10.75" wide in the rear.
On the front I drilled a stock servo plate for upper link mounting. I used an aluminum link plate mount, and bolted a battery tray to it.
The servo is one from Hobbyking that runs straight off a 3s pack.
Sven was kind enough to let me try his XR10 lockout slug holder. Unfortunately it doesn't work on my XR because the front axle case on the rear axle interferes. However they fit perfectly on a rear XR axle case with stock lockouts. They also work great on the XR lockouts on this rig.
Here you can see they tuck in nicely. 600 rear hubs. This would look the same on an XR.
The weight retainer holds VP LH weights. I have 4 (2oz) on each side. This is a really sweet setup, and I already have ideas of how to make it work on my XR with the front case on the rear axle.
