7cell @ 9.64 volts?

I have a new 7 cell 1500mah 2/3a battery pack. Well it used to be an 8 cell and I removed one cell to cater to my ESC. My question is; after I charged the battery pack for the first time on the lowest amperage my Super Brain 960 would do the pack shows 9.64 volts. The pack should show 8.4v right? I double checked this with my volt meter and it showed the same results. Will the charge normal out when the pack gets a load? I don't want to screw up my new ESC! thanks for the help fellas.

The nominal voltage of each cell is 1.2v at a full charge they will register slightly higher resulting in your high voltage reading.

Same reason a 7.2v pack peaks at about 8v. A 1.2v cell will peak around 1.5v

My 6 cell packs get up to about 8.5v on a new charger I have with an LCD display. Freaked me out the first time until feeling the battery and it wasn't any hotter than a normal charge cycle.

seems to work pretty good, so far I like the charger. Doesn't do LiPo's though
