Yeah your right I did get my box today.

Order on Friday and get the box of parts on Monday. Some great service from THE CRAWLER STORE, :D thanks Kevin. I also received some parts but I will do some testing before posting the pictures and comments.

Hopefully I get my servo's by Wed. I have a spare HS645 I might use but I might wait until the Japan parts get in. (also shipped on Friday)

Bta Steering Build

Here is the build of the Aggressor Steering System (BTA STEERING) available at THE CRAWLER STORE.

The BTA Steering is in easy add-on for any Clod based system.
I will be using the WAYPOINT W-1620MG (same servo as BlueBird 620MG)

Parts included with the BTA:
1 Carbon fiber Drag Link
1 Carbon fiber Servo Plate Mount
1 Axle Stay for Servo Plate
2 Plastic nut Captures
2 3/16" ball ends with set screw
All Mounting hardware to complete the build.

Remove and reinstall Steering Hubs on opposite sides with steering arms facing to the rear. (Switching the hubs to the other axle is needed for the offset of the steering arms) Some trimming to the steering stops maybe needed to gain full steering throw.
Install servo plate to servo and mount plate to axle stay.
Prepare the Ball ends and set screw. (As pictured the set screw and ball ends will be 44mm eye to eye, but in the instructions, they say the ball end should be 39mm eye to eye):???:
The instructions say mount the drag link first, but I needed to install the ball link assembly first. ( I did not want to remove the 55t motor to install the drag link) The motor might be in the way for later assembly if you install the drag link first.
Install the drag link to the steering arms using the Plastics nut captures, counter sink screws, and nylock nuts.
Mount servo arm and ball link assembly to servo. (make sure the servo is centered)
Check for any loose screws and reinstall your tires.

All in all it should take you about 15-20 minutes.

Some pictures.

I did try to install some Aluminium Knuckles but were hampered by my bottom Links.
The knuckles are not off centered so if you have your links mounted as pictured above you might run into clearance issues.

Other then that the steering is great. I will be using the BTA on 2.2 clod for now and until I save up for a new chassis and I might move to the larger 40 series moabs.

I will test the steering this weekend at the HRCC comp on Sunday.

Thanks to Kevinat The Crawler Store and Thunder Tech for some awsome steering system.
I also am using The Crawler Store servo mounts for the rear steering. The location is great, it is out of the way and not a bumper for those pesky rocks.

RATBASTARD808, thanks for posting that install. Glad you are happy with the steering setup. Do you mind if I use some of the pics you took on my website? I've needed pics of the bta setup. I don't like that digital rendered photo and that's the only one thunder tech has. Thanks.

What brand were the aluminum nuckles you tried to use them with, Ratbastard?

Looks really good. I hope mine holds up as well as the Aggressor set up. Mine was alot cheaper to build. FREE!

Yeah, I flipped everything around and then bent up a link from the servo horn to the knuckle. Took about 10 minutes.

It was the Knuckles made by RC4WD.
The problem on my rig was the lower links. I noticed most clod crawlers use the top link mounts combined with the lower links located above the axle.
In my rig the lower links are mounted below the axle. The carbon fiber may bind with the links. The reason behind the bind is the off set on the aluminum knuckles. RC4WD Knuckles are vertically centered, The ThunderTech BTA were meant to be used with stock knuckles. The stock knuckles have a slight off-set and the reason why you need to switch the steering knuckles on opposite sides of the axles.

Recieved my Aggressor Steering System from Kev and installed it tonight.
All I have to say is holy crap did it improve my turning radius. Also purchase the Thunder Tech wheel widener and good thing I did cause the tires were rubbing against the shock tower something feirce.

I have my first comp this weekend so hope all works out ok.

Mike
