Thread 'Scorpion MKIV'

After receiving a text from the owner of my LHS stating he received one of those quickrun fusion 8ight systems, I got to thinking. What to try it out in first.

I started this build a long, long time ago and had some cut up HB Sedona tires on the 2.2/3.0 wheels. Too ugly, and they got tossed. I also tried the old and beat up nomad db tires, but they just looked too tired. Found some neat tires a while back on aliexpress for cheap, so I ordered a replacement for the other rig, while I glue these on here.20241130_020906.jpg

I think it will work out in the end with a little bit of clear paint dabbled down as glue, then sprinkle on iron powder and some clearcoat after it has developed some rust. 20240922_224527.jpg

The body is by planet toys, comes with mirror tint and no interior.

Once I got my grubby hands on it it started to look like this

I'm not sure if I'll put in a interior, or just leave it be. For now its to get it running. So first was to widen a long saved Element enduro IFS (og) Kit and a solid axle to better match the body width...

It started out just like all other of my " builds" in my head of course. I don't have many pics of before, but I just converted the stock truck with a proper rx/tx, servo and esc, as it was just a roller.


I like the black look, but mine is red. I am most likely going to paint the body satin black. Current look:

Aluminum bits in the suspension department. Steering mechanism is a cheapo chinesium set, that is already failing. I intend to make something stronger with some steel and silver solder. Progress so far:

My finger tips got tired of the small bolts after a while. So I made a new "wrench" out of al Iong m3 bolt. I can ever screw on a "cheater bar" onto the end.

Well I have always wanted a Crawler rig, But have not built one in the five or six years I have been frequenting this site. Untill I saw this chassis made by Jetboat. I just new I had to have it. Then BDW made some killer upper/lower link and servo mounts for the WK axles, added those too. Then fast forward a bit and the crawler itch had died. But once the FOFF thing tok of I decided I needed to add one to my stable of rigs. Here it is with some Badlands and the crawler configuration. I still have to strech the WB a little and put a bigger battery holder in it.

Did a lot of flat ground wheeling in/with these during my time in the service. I mostly drove the 2wd ones, but we had one at our shop, it was 4x4 and that was only to be driven by the NCO's, back then, lol......ANYWAYS. They all ended up in DRMO (to be gotten rid of) and I never got to drive the 4x4... 20260227_093343.jpg
You could trick the 15mph governor, by turning the ignition off and back on, and attain a whopping 25-27 IIRC, but them lil 2 or 3 cylinder engines be HOLLERIN mercy.

Would be nice to have...

However, I picked mine up for just a few more Duckett. First things first was: de-sticker. "They're not paying me, that's not my name"

Ive always wanted to build something like this without re-inventing the wheel, and it wasn't until Losi came out with the rzr rey's rear suspension for me to do it in large scale.

Well I picked this beauty up for a mere $35 from a swap meet. It came without body, ESC, motor. I thought that was a smoking deal and I figured I'll throw in the VXL system I picked up at that same swap meet for like $10 (it's burned up) after I send it in. Already has some mods done to it from what I gather.

Plans are: No more body, RC4WD Original Crushers on Maxximizer Beadlocks. Lexan and Mesh side panels, stock tires as spares. THis will most likely become my new Deployment go fast rig (going to Afghanistan in Aug) and replace my stealth bandit go fast rig (looks like a batmobile)...

Chassis is an aging TA01 that will get a few parts replaced...

I have wanted to build this for the last 5 years and never got around to doing it. I finaly bit the bullet and got the body, I then figured I'll cut a Tamiya TT01 chassis in half and use 3/4 inch or 1 inch 90 degree angle aluminum as a brace. THis rig has ben rebuilt after a few hard years of running as a rally rig, drifter and touring car in all sorts of terrain/ weather down to -20F temps with snow on the ground. I have since replaced almost every part on this, except for the old stub axles on which I cut the plastic off. Also on the rear Shaft that comes out of where the spur sits on...

Tires= Either Narrowed Claw dawgs or regular width Swamp dawgs maybe even geos
Body= D90
Frame= K2-3L painted with Black plastidip
Tranny= Black pede with new style slipper
Motor= 55T Integy

More to come soon as I get the 4X4 WK truck. I'll also have a few things for sale then since I'll only keep some of the parts

Don't have the old pics but I have changed it up a little "lot". It now has Axial axles instead of WK, because I put 1.9 ers on it instead of the 2.2 narrowed geolanders on Pede wheels it had.

"looks more scale now" although it'll have a axle mounted servo. I also replaced the Droop Pede shocks without springs for F350 shocks, I used a WK battery "thingie" to hold the battery, kept the MFM chassis and the WK tranny,<- althought I changed the way It was mounted from before.

I also put the F350 Push bar up front that some member on here or scale gave to me for free a year or more ago...

Thread 'Diaz DS1 chassis chevy C10'

This is my DS-1 Design Chevy C-10 Hope you like it. The only problem i ran into is you have to use the second larger Jugg spring also to keep the main one from bending into weird shapes and braking. The pictures were taken at a somewhat local park called Rockville Park in Nor-Cal. It's really cool i think, maybe there could be a comp there for all the Sacramento-San Francisco area crawlers.
