Amazon Fire 8 users?

It can be, and it might not be depending on the shape you're in. My step Dad is pushing 70, in good shape, stout as hell, and you would never think he's that old if you hung out with him. I'd bet money you'd guess 20 years younger. In contrast, I've seen people my own age that look 70 years old because they didn't take care of themselves.

There is a 32GB one, 1.5 GB ram standard, and you can also add a micro sd card w/up to 256GB storage. Chit, for $60 it works for me. Actually, I got a his and hers being delivered today.
40th wedding anniversary today (how many of you suckers can say "Been there, done that).
Checkout Food/Cooking thread later for my finished gourmet dinner meal I'm cookin' on the grill.. "thumbsup" ( if I remember to take pic of finished product)
Porterhouse smothered w/butter and seasoning & 8 oz. tails.
Preview:

"Been there done that" We hit 48 years in June, and I'm a 68 years old kid that still plays with TOY Trucks!
You must be doing something right to make it to 40!! Yes we are an anomaly, enjoy your evening together!"thumbsup"
Ernie
Hope it works great for ya EeePee!

Here ya go.
Been playing with it for a few hours, I like it. Just watched Ray Donovan in HD.
Walked around the house, sat on the deck, and ate my Pie à la Mode. Didn't miss a scene. "thumbsup"

How'd you get yours so fast? I did two day and it won't be here until tomorrow.

I'm most likely going to keep it bare bones app free as possible and use it mostly if not entirely for web browsing. Even this site, and well darn near all the ones I go to, which are just a few really, give my iMac and iPhone troubles. Maybe stream some tunes. Pictures and post em. Pay bills. Basic stuff.

Bluetooth mouse could be helpful.

Gonna have to respond using Google Voice. Seems my eyes are not working very well. :lmao:

I had been researching the HD8 for awhile and was a good excuse to get a couple of them (anniversary). You know, one for me, one for her deal. Well any who, ordered last Friday. It was a coincidence that you posted this thread.
I've been toolin' around w/it most of today. I like it. Lots of stuff on YT to read and watch on it.

You start off mentioning the Google ad machine and then you go ahead and buy the Amazon ad machine. :lmao:

I had the first Amazon Kindle Fire. My boss at my old job got it for me as a gift. I quickly rooted it and installed vanilla Android. It served me well for years until I upgraded to the Nexus 7 2013 which is still running like a champ to this day and one of the main reasons I love the Google ecosystem. If you can root this current Fire tablet I'd be interested. If not, they can keep it at any price. I don't subscribe to the Amazon ecosystem. In fact, I avoid it like the plague. It's the Target of the online world.

Edit: I just checked XDA and this tablet doesn't have root yet, but you can uninstall some of the adware and bloatware. Here's the link for those interested: https://forum.xda-developers.com/hd8-hd10/general/root-required-remove-amazon-bloatware-t3636796

So far it's okay but understand I've been on Apples for a long time and this is not an Apple. It's not as seemingly smart or easy but I also understand I need to learn. It should be fine, I suspect. The sites I frequent aren't causing problems so that's good news to me because that was really annoying.

The learning curve with this seems steeper.

At least the Amazon ad machine shows me relevant crap instead of dumb crap like Google does most of the time. Removing the fluff would definitely be nice. I might look into that despite how I typically am about leaving things stock, no added apps and keep it clean as posible.

Man, you should do the Utube Rooting Google Play Store, then download Chrome app. Works fricken great. I had a small cell phone keyboard that I connected, awesome, works perfect. Just watched Ken Block rippin' it up on RCrawler web site w/bluetooth buds, awesome. Scroll around w/bluetooth mouse, works perfect. I like this lil' FIRE. It's fast too.
Got a real nice silicon cover and a tempered glass screen protector today, perfect fit.
