So. After going back and forth between racing 1/8 scale with the kids and building really fast monster trucks, my son decided on crawling. Currently have this built up for both of us to play with:

UGC FF-4 - I really can't say enough about this chassis, flat out works.
Traxxas 4.0" with Dlux retainers - RC18MT springs rear/Losi Mini-t springs front
Dlux Shock standoffs
Krazed Builds desTroy front plate
RCBro's Knuckle Weights
RCBro's Brass Burly Tubes XR width up front
RCBro's Extended Ackerman for VP
RCBro's AX10 Carbon rear 4link mount
DCW Beadlocks
Pit Bull Rock Beast XOR
Crawler Innovation Double Duece foams
Vanquish .425 hubs
Vanquish Wraith Knuckles
BWD Carbon motor mount
BWD Electronics mounting plate
Incision Lockers
Some sort of MIPish driveshafts
Axial OD/UD heavy duty gears
Axial XR10 Universals
Cheap China Aluminum Gearbox
Cheap China Chubs
Gunnar body mounts
Lunsford Rock Grinder links
Holmes BR-Mini with CastleBEC
Hitec 7955
Br00d Apocalypse 40T Type R (Currently waiting on Puller 400's to be back in stock)
Thunder Power Magna 70C 850mah 3s

Here's some pictures. She works pretty damn well.

So, made a few upgrades today. New HH Crawlmaster Pro 16T Handwound, bent a solid steering link from 120mm titanium Rock Grinder, and upgraded the tars a little bit. Bully Comps with CI 5.25" Double Dueces. Having a very interesting problem that did not occur before the Holmes motor, or the tires. Did them both at the same time so it's hard to say which one.

When you hold it off the ground and give it throttle, it's almost like it is stuttering. Like something is binding up in the drivetrain because the motor does not stop spinning, nor does it have a problem spinning. Might be the OD/UD combo and drivetrain harmonics, or might be the tires. I'm not sure, but if anyone has any advice on that, that would be great.

Try compressing the suspension and running it. If the vibes go away you have three options tilt your front axle up, lower the front a bit, or increase the length of the front links.

my guess is the universal pins in the driveshafts
are not phased (aligned) correctly.

Each drive shaft should see the uni/cvd pins
of both the front and rear uni's in the same position.

Probably a good idea to phase both front and rear DS's
so the universal pins of each DS align in unison.

Thanks for the input, they are not aligned at all and also re-clocking the front axle was another priority.

I'll give this a shot and see where I get with it. Thanks!

Problem solved! Lined the driveshafts up and clocked the front a little further and no more issues! Thanks! Remarkably smooth now.

Not going back to anything else at this point. With the 5.25 narrow soft in the front, and medium in the rear they are absolutely amazing. The wheels are .900" so a bit more narrow than the 1" recommended, but they do outstanding on the rocks around here.
