Today was Opening Day for dovie's here in the beautiful rolling hills of Maryland. Cleaned and ready for the grill "thumbsup".

Dove's are a migratory bird that eat only grains and seed, like corn, sunflower, alfalfa, wheat, etc. No worms or bugs. So they sorta taste like grain fed beef crossed with a chicken thigh. Absolutely delectable. I'll marinate for a day or two, and fast cook on the grill. Rare to medium is best. Don't want to over cook because lack of fat and will dry out and get tuff. Of all the game birds I hunt, dove is my favorite. A little BBQ sauce and, BAM! Some mighty tastey little buggers.

You forgot a smidgeon of cream cheese, Oh my! That's how we eat'em when I hunt in Texas.

Boneless skinless chicken breast is $1.78 a pound and you do not have to flavor the hell out of it to get rid of the nasty gamey taste.

I do not eat them. The taste is awful. On the the other hand I hunt them. Our season comes in here in Alabama on September 8th and goes out last day of September. I will hunt everyday all the way to the end of September. In the spring il go to Argintina and shoot white wing dove. I shoot skeet tournaments while in off season so with that said, wing shooting is my favorite sport. We also have a week long winter season on dove. Hunting season is so much better down here than up north because it goes so much longer.

I hunted doves when I worked for hunting magazines. It was fun. Easy work for the dogs and easy shooting (compared to grouse and woodcock). I did it all on southern hunting plantations which was a new experience to me. Overall, I didn't think I'd like it, but ended up enjoying it a lot.
