Any other paints?

So I know there are a few brands that offer paint for lexan (polycarbonate), but none seem to have the color I am needing.

I am wanting to do a sand color / tan and none seem to offer this in the polycarbonate paint.

Is there something else I can use to paint the body that wont just turn to trash with crashes and roll-overs?

Lately I haven't' been able to find the colour I want in any PC paints so I've taken to vinyl wrapping my bodies now. It's easier than you think and there tends to better colour options available.

I've heard (but never done a long term test) that you can use any spray paint you want if you lay down a nice thick layer of clear polycarb paint and let it cure fully. I did this with some maroon that I wanted, the actual paint process was simple, it appears to have bonded very well and is tolerant of bending; but I haven't actually run that body as I changed plans before that rig was complete so that body is sitting on the shelf gathering dust.

I've been waiting for years and years for rattlecan earth tones for polycarbonate plastics.

If they would make them, people would buy them - it's pretty damn ridiculous.

Just a good selection of basic military shades like OD green, khaki/sand, dark brown, and a nice neutral grey.

Sure, you can achieve it after jumping through hoops of spraying other paints first, but COME ON!

Horizon/Pro-Line - are you LISTENING?

As long as you coat the lexan, either inside or outside, whichever you're going to lay the final color on, with Tamiya PS-55, which is a flat clear, you'll be fine in using a Krylon or Rustoleum paint, and I know they should have the tan you're looking for

Check out Mission Models paints.

I have not used their RC paint, yet. However, I really like their scale model paint.

Well - if airbrush paint is all that is needed, Pro-Line has what they call Mojave Sand:

I personally want plain old rattlecans...

And their color is a bit light for my taste.

Here's Pro-Line's Military set:

The Createx line works fine on Lexan. They have a zillion colors and you could easily custom mix something if they didn't have what you wanted. I think Coast Airbrush TV even has a free video about painting RC bodies.

Dupli-Color Vinyl and Fabric Specialty Coating, Desert Sand (HVP108.). They also make Medium Beige (HVP113) if the Desert Sand isn't dark enough for you. The Desert Sand is a nice medium tan.

The Dupli-Color paints are as durable or more durable than polycarbonate-specific paints, for about 1/3 the price. The downside is they only come in a very limited number of colors. But they do have tan.
