First post, total newbie into the RC crawlers but I need a little advice. Just picked up the AX10 Deadbolt to get started and needed a little help getting started. I first wanted to get a lipo battery but I'm not sure which direction to head. Here is what I have been looking at:
Turnigy 5000mAh 3S 20C Lipo Pack (US Warehouse)

Is this the right one to buy or is there something else that is better?

Also wanting to do some mods but not sure where to start. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated as I know almost nothing about this new found hobby. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Well I'm not 100% on this but I was told not to run a 3s Lipo in my stock Wraith and I am guessing it's the same for the deadbolt. I was told the 3s Lipo can damage the electronics, I love the 2s Lipo in my stock Wraith. It has good power and the charge gets me about 45mins of run time, also get a good charger if you are going to buy Lipos. As far as mods go just go to the Deadbolt picture thread let your imagination take over. Welcome and happy crawling!

is the deadbolt a rtr only? did it come with a ae2 or ae5 esc? or did you buy a kit with a separate esc? if you have a ae2 then you should run a bec but some ppl dont. the ae5 says it takes 3s.

the Turnigy battery's work just fine, they are a good deal for the price. 20c is a little low though, but will work. Make sure you set your esc for lipo cut off. 3s will destroy most stock parts quick, 2s works great. as stated make sure your rig is 3s capable.

The stock ESC on AX10 Deadbolt is the AE-2, which is designed for 2S battery.
If you try to run it on 3S it will likely toast, so 2S is what you want.
Next thing is capacity. 5,000 mAh means a heavy battery resulting in long run time but mediocre performance.
If you want good off road performance you better look at a compact battery around 1,000 mAh and 30+ C-rating.
