B-MOW's Ascent-18 New Look

Forgive my ignorance. What is the advantage of using a 24th scale chassis on a 18th scale truck? Old school RC guy here trying to get back into things with the crawling scene. I am familiar with thinking outside the box.

Old school RC guy here too! 1/10 scale off-road and dirt oval racer from the late 80’s.

No real advantage to using the 1/24 chassis. I only chose this because the plastic cage fit inside the stock body really well. The plan was to make the stock body look different than everyone else’s. And the carbon chassis rails actually fit pretty good too.

Nice resume. Mine includes racing 1/10 off road, pan cars and clod busters in the 90's/00's. Love fiddling with this stuff, just been out for awhile. One year I spent quite a bit of time making my own dirt oval chassis for my XXXT. The first night I took it out to a grassroots style dirt oval track it exceeded my expectations and dominated the open class. I didn't get to leave with it because I sold it after the main to second place. What you did to your truck here truck is my favorite part of the hobby. Got a Element Gatekeeper last year but have not spent to much time with it yet. Thinking about getting an Ascent 18 so I was looking around and I really like what you did. I may use it as a partial inspiration.

Yeah, forgot to mention the pan cars. Winter carpet racing was a blast back then. I had an RC10L, Bolink Eliminator, still have RC12L and had a pair of TRC 12th scale. Sure do miss them racing days, but big ego’s and fierce competitive competition forced me out. Just wasn’t fun anymore. I did buy a TLR 22 5.0 DC a couple years ago thinking would jump back into racing, but that never happened.

Thanks! Mine too. Tinkering and modifying to put my own spin on them is what I like about the hobby.

Can’t go wrong with Ascent 18. Good lil’ rig for the money.

The Element Gatekeeper is a great rig too. Just need to lose the top heavy cage. I bought two Gatekeepers a couple years ago when they were on sale. Made on like my 1:1 Tacoma and the other into a good rock/trail rig.

I loved pan cars and hated pan cars. To many people that thought they raced on a real nascar team.

My gatekeeper is mostly stock but I am slowly making changes. I like the cage look but I can really tell it’s tippy. Thanks for the quick chats!
