Hello everyone. I’ve been tinkering on and off on this build and I need to get things documented before I get much further.

The build:

Started out as a nicely painted (Smurf Blue)(it’s not staying blue[emoji41]) original new bright 4 door jk with a slightly hacked interior. I had a new set of CBE rails that fit the lines of the JK quite well. I just needed to extend the rear for large body. From here I added some sliders, front and rear bumpers. Then started on the cage. The cage started out as 2 very long rods bent to shape.

Then I added some cross braces [emoji51]

Finally some dress up and added support.

This brings us to current. I need to add some front tabs giving the cage 6 bolt in points. I need to sort rear shock mounting and mount the chosen drive train. More to come.

Thats a good start BC! Very clean joints on the roll cage. Definantly goina watch this one come along

His tube work is top notch! I bought two of his custom rigs and they are A-1!

Hes an awesome guy. Had some issues with a build. Somebody pointed me in his direction n with his help, had it fixed in no time.

Thanks again travis! Much appreciated!

Yep. Own several BC builds myself, honored to call him my brother and I too am very excited to see this one progress. Answer your texts.

My brother……..

Alright fellas…. I just realized I haven’t shared the current status fully. Nothing earth shattering just figured I would give you a better look at the armor and the raw chassis.

Ooooooh... Ahhhhhhh... Purdy...... I like the look of the 4 door jeeps

Thank you Adam. I’m a yota guy for certain but that old new bright 4 door JK body is a hard one to beat. 13” wheel base and it swallows tires. Full depth interior. The current rollers are 4.75 with .225 SLW hubs and they have one tread sticking out. I could drop to a 4.19 for a totally different ( daily driver ) look. The body gives you crazy options. You could swap out hubs to say a .350 or so to make this thing mega stable while still maintaining proper tire coverage for class spec.

I ordered a set of the 10.3 straight axles (crazy cheap Xmas price). I have a new set of fully built SSD diamonds under it currently. I saw the 10.3 axle under a recent Toyota build and really liked the look. I think one ton axles will look perfecto under a big ol JK. I’m also trying to decide on the transmission. I have a slick OG aluminum zuki front mount and a new TGH t-case(thanks Duke Minnix!). I also just acquired another new Pro VFD. The zuki/TGH combo adds some nostalgia to the build however I’m loving the Pro VFD. We will see………….

I love the vfd, got one in my gspeed v3, n in my v1c1 build. Plus the new vfd twin, which i cant wait to try out. I was goina go with the tgh fmm n one of their transfercases for the v1c1, but its hard to catch a tcase in stock sometimes

I couldn’t agree more. The VFD is a go to for custom builds. To date I have built 3 customs using the VFD paired with the SSD trail king offset front axle.

YJ….. sold to Dave King. Kincer

All three were built using the VFD and it’s Pro variant. The Pro is 100% the go to if available. Adam I would like to try the phoenix in a custom buggy type build down the road.

Mail man dropped the 10.3’s off today.

First time holding and I must say they are nice axles for the cost. The plastic is beef. I doubt they would require upgrades to be reliable but SSD is offering some nice stuff for them. I am like you guys. Can’t leave things alone. More to come.

I really need to get that TJ hooked up and on a trail sometime soon.

Yes sir you do. Very nice rig.

I have been waiting on parts. USPS is slacking hard this holiday season. The SSD straight axle C hubs have proven a difficult part to obtain for some reason. SSD??? However some nice bits did arrive.

Pro trans.

SSD straight axle components. I cleaned out the original grease and added my new favorite. The pink sticky stuff. Mobil 1 Synthetic.

Next will be installing the new drivetrain and redoing the suspension links so they work in harmony with the VFD and new axles.

Thank you sir. I have been making a little progress the past day or so. VFD and AR45 Straight axles are installed. I had to redo the front upper link and panhard bar only to convert from the SSD diamond AR44’s. I am terrible OCD so I’m going to shave the already welded on panhard frame mount and relocate it to match the new lines. Then I removed the flares and started sanding. I haven’t decided if I’m going to attempt a seat repair or just redo the driver and passenger area completely. I also am liking the look without the flares. I might try to narrow down the flares some. We will see.

Thats comin along nicely! Kinda like the no flare look as well. As for the interior, it probably wouldnt take much to make a center console to hide the trans

Adam you talked me into giving the original interior repair a try. I can cut it out and slap in some PRP seats worst case. I mixed up some mek and styrene scrap a few days ago. The slurry turned out nice and thick. So I backed all the holes on the hood and slowly poured slurry in the holes.

Then framed up the seats

Following 2 days of drying I was able to sand and add more liquid styrene.

Hood is looking smooth

Seats are taking shape so I added more filler and added a center console. Its all wet in the pic.
