Basecamp with 2 speed

Few more things before it’s ready for axial fest.

I’d like to add some rear portal weight. Front is very heavy with the brass and everything already being up there. Also, want to add lights. And I mean ALOT of lights. Light bar, rear chase bar, headlights, taillights, might even go crazy and get the front flares with the lights built into it.

But, I’m happy with it and I’m just happy I didn’t have to go buy a new rig to change it all up.

Ordered a few things for the jeep. Full light kit, headlights, rock lights, tails and light bar. Should be plenty of light.

Also, picked up some rear portal weights to add more weight to the rear since the front is so heavy. Hopefully that will keep it from doing endos coming down.

Along with those, I grabbed an Rc4wd stinger bumper for it. Have plans for a servo winch, which is already here

Going to have the line run right through the Rc4wd bumper.

These 10.3s are so nice to add things too. Servo winch fit right in. It may be a cheap one but I hardly use them and it was $23. Lifts the truck right off the ground, so that’s plenty for me.

Have used one of those servo winches for the past year without any issues, easily dead-pulls 15lb without much strain on it. Good value imo these servos.
Nice work on the rig so far (y)

That’s good to hear, I’ve never gave these ones a shot. I usually get the locked up servo winches but for the price, why not?

Thanks! I’m hoping it performs well

Got my order in.

Mytrickrc lights and ssd portal weights.

Weights went on like nothing. No details needed there.

The lights however. Ordered from Amain, because I got other stuff. It came with the HB-2 control unit. Totally different than the videos I watched of the install on the 10.3 wrangler. You have to go to the website and search your control unit you have and get the install instructions. Very vague instructions for that. Hopefully I’ve connected them correctly, time will tell if any lights burn out.

Also, only came with a 2s connector for the controller and the pic shows a 2/3s connector. I only run 3s nowadays.

And, I don’t have anything to attach to rx to use a 3rd channel to operate the lights. Not sure if the hb-2 has that capability or not. Gonna do some searching on the hb-2 and see if I can find any info of connecting to rx.

They are, however, bright. It’s hard to do anything for a little bit after accidentally looking at it, and that’s only on 2s 😂

A quick search shows the hb-2 is a simple, no frills controller. That sucks because I bought it because of the YouTube video I saw on the kit for the scx10.3 wrangler install. I guess I’ll be buying the dragon controller, which is also waterproof, and I want that.

If you simply want to turn lights on and off from the TX I have used the remote switches you can find on Amazon for not much money. I just put it in line from the hb2 controller to the Rx I believe and assign the channel on the Rx to a switch on the Rx and Bob's yer uncle.

Edit: I should say if you want to turn all lights on and off together as one.

I thought about that but honestly the whole reason I bought this setup was to be able to turn each thing off as I want. Just sucks to spent another $55 lol but it’ll come in and I’ll install it and forget about that part soon enough lol

That makes sense. I only run during the day and use my lights on the trail as "safety" for on coming traffic like they advise people to do as the absolute minimum safety step when driving off-road in 1:1s.

And to impress kids I meet on the trail.

I usually have no lights on the rigs, with the exception of those that come with lights. But there are a few night runs locally this year I’d like to attend. I want cool lights like everyone else and not have to wear a headlamp lol
