I'd like to find some good info on what top batteries there are ?

What batteries are the crawlers swapping to?

I've been running a Single 55t Integy in my Maxx with a rebel 2 powered by a standard NiMHi 3300 6 cell pack.
I'd like more juice
and make custom packs to put 2 cells on each Axle side or 3 or so cells on just front axle sides.

I read this but seems like an awful lot of cells to run:

" The rebel can handle up to 10 cells (12v). to save some weight over a much heavier pack, you might try a 3s Lipo pack, at least 2000 mah 10c cells, so it can handle 20 amps. I'd reccomend the Thunder Power Pro Lite 2100 3s1p packs, they're 15c cells and can handle 31.6 amps constant. They peak about 12.6v after a charge, but I don't think the rebel will have a problem with the extra 6/10ths of a volt for the first few minutes. The TP 2100 3s1p packs weigh in around 5oz, where a 10 cell SubC cell NiMh pack would weigh about 22-23oz. That's almost 2 pounds for the same voltage as 5oz.. That should scratch some weight and give you PLENTY of juice to move that bish.

higher voltage will allow you to gear way lower to maintain the same speed, have a lower amp draw (higher voltage = less amperage), and have more torque from the voltage/gearing. "

Any body have some good battery Tech and links on where to get a really good crawler battery ?

I like cheapbatterypacks.com. I make my own cells from their 2/3A cells and they work quite well. They're about $2.35 a cell plus the bars, wire and shrink wrap. If you're not so inclined, they do custom configurations.

I would (and do) stick with 7 or 8 cells for a crawling application though. I actually need to order 40 or so cells from them today.

Edit: In your case with the Maxx sized rig, you'll want those sub Cs. Get 4500s if your pocket can afford it. You get great runtimes and they are fantastic batteries.

Why Sub C's ?
I found this from the battery man " (Chris) but what does the 4/5A mean ? "Im a firm believer in either Lipo or 4/5A cells. Id try a nice 7 cell 4/5A 2000 mah pack then upgrade from there if need be."

I thought the higher Mah the longer run time, example a 4200 mah would last longer than a 2000 mah. Right?

So these guys saying the 4/5 a 2000 what is that? 6cell?

I was thinking of putting 2 cells per wheel side axle, 8 Cells total

So in reality if I want a small light weight pack with aprox 30-45 minute run time then go with the Elite 2000 2/3A pack ?

and for Higher output , longer run time (fun time) slightly larger cell size then go with the Elite 4500 pack ?

I've been running a 10c Lipo pack - Apogee 1570mah pack, seems to work great.
It's small and light, with my 55t motor I've got over 30 minutes of runtime.

It's a 2s pack, so it's a pretty good match for the crawler.

I get about 3 and a half hours of runtime from my 3300mAh battery. I am running one 65t lathe with gd600 and 1servo with a 2700 mAh rx pack. My truck is pretty heavy as the front has lead weights on the front axle.

Exactly. It really depends on your application. I sometimes run my big shotgun style packs for fun runs (or I just have a bunch of my 2/3A cell packs charged up with me). I don't see a problem with your 2 cells per wheel being a problem. That is a good way to keep the weight where it needs to be.

With your application though, I would say you want some of the bigger batteries and more run time. I ran SubCs on my maxx crawler and I'm doing the same on my clod now. My tlts all get 2/3A cells.

I don't know what the 8 cells will do for your Rebel 2 though or if it changes the BEC.

Personally Im big fan of 4/5A cells for a budget and just all around crawlin. They offer good power and runtime. Light and affordable. The Elite2000Mah are great cells and the GP2000Mah are good too.

I usually go for performance before I worry about budget though:lol:

I have not keep track of run time on my crawler but my 6cell 3300 C cells run 30 minutes on a modifed 10 & 12 turn motors for my speed cars.

Would the Elite 4500 cell be the best for the CraWler ?

and is there a best of best for a A size cell , I want to build a Rock buggy Crawler as realistic as possible and putting cells on the axle is not appealing although I will do it for a option for Ultimate performance.

I'd like the best cell available in small size so I can hide them throughout the tube frame , such as disquize a cell into a C02 air tank & Propane tank, hide inside the mini scale Cooler !

the Rebel 2 is rated 8-10 cells
BEC is 6.v at 5amp

The 4500s are great, but too big in my opinion. Go with the GP2000's or Elite2000's. Crawlers aren't too demanding with amp draws. This gives more options for batts.
