I just put connectors on my brand new Hyperion G3 3s 1600mah lipos, and am charging them. Being 3s they are 11.1v well from the manufacturer they came to be sitting around 11.56v after I put them on my 606i charger it says it charged 673 mA and is now sitting at 12.5v.

So I am assuming that they came partially charged and that is why they only charged 670mA but what about the voltage is that too high for these batteries or is it normal? I have charged 2 out of the 4 and don't want to continue unless I know it's ok.

Thanks

thats normal most batterys come half charged and when they are charger they will charge at a high rate my 2s 7.4 charges at like 8.2

Ok cool thanks, just wanted to make sure. This is all new to me, and don't want to mess anything up. I do have to say I like the Hyperion batteries and chargers I am charging them at a rate of 6A which they are rated for and they are fully charged in under 15 min.

Uh...

You should never go over 1C, or 1.6A for lipos... 6A is not good at all.

you two are right about charging for most lipos but the hyperion g3 lipos can be safely charged at a 5c rate so he is fine doing 6A it just cuts the life of them a bit and i wouldnt do it very often, charge at a 1c rate when you can.

Nope, not for these batteries. Visit the Hyperion site, their G3 batteries can charge at a rate of 5c, and for a 1600mah that would be 8A, but the charger maxes at 6A.

Here is a link to their info sheet on these batteries.

http://media.hyperion.hk/dn/g3lipo/

From that info sheet:

5C Super-fast charge time (as fast as 12 minutes!) with absolutely no negative impact on lifespan or reliability.

They are pretty slick batteries, the charge rate is the reason I went with them. Wanted to be able to take my rig out for several hours or camping, and not have to bring along DC batteries to charge with or run my vehicle for several hours charging batteries. I can charge all 4 of these in 1 hour, pretty sweet if ya ask me.

Oh, that is cool! I didn't even know you could do that with those new batteries."thumbsup"
