This is my power package: MRC PRO
Mongoose 1/18 Crawler Mini BL System 18.5T
HS-645MG
Blue Lipo 2-Cell 800mah 7.4v 2S1P 20C Battery

I have everything but servo. (Servo on the way)

Should I add A BEC?

most would probably say yes, I am running my hitec 5645 directly off my 2s lipo without any problems thus far though. My servo isn't even high voltage but it really does not get that warm, sure I will smoke it at some point. My 2 cents.

Depending on your ESC & servo, ~200oz is about the max without a BEC before you run into issues.
In general, other than "for fun" rigs/scalers, I say spring for an external BEC (unless you're running a BRXL ESC).

Lots of people don't run a BEC with the Mongoose but I would always run a CC BEC as it's a few dollars of insurance for your ESC, has a small footprint, is light and programable - what's not to like?

Another thing to consider is most esc only deliver 5.5 to 5.8 volts to the servo. SO you lose just a bit of power. With the CC BEC you can set the output voltage. mine is set to 6.1 volts. My servo never gets warm and it is a 200 oz +/- (maybe 205 with voltage bump! oohhhhhh)

I have one on order. (CC BEC) Thank you guys for helping me decide.
Now to figure out the wiring part. Back to searching...

After reading the stickies and many many posts, I ended up going pretty vanilla, a hired servo and bec...I found both on amazon, but got the base plate elsewhere. As for wiring, there is a real easy to follow picture on the castle creations website....
